Cover Grays on the Fly
It doesn’t make any sense at all. You paid top dollar for your last coloring session and you brought cupcakes on top of that. The last thing you should be seeing in that mirror is a gray hair. And of course it’s even worse when that mirror isn’t at home, but rather in the public rest room at the transit authority or at the office or in the car on your way to a dinner party. The frustrating thing about gray hairs is that they are wiry and don’t hold dye very well. Even a permanent dye is rendered ineffective after a few weeks. Keep some powdered eye shadow on hand. Be sure to stock a color very close the color of the hair immediately above the gray section.
Save Time on your Morning Hair Routine
Many of us are habitual procrastinators, but when it comes to our hair, it usually pays to think ahead. If you’re looking for a great-looking way to skip a morning blowout, try this trick from a beauty editor. Wash your hair the night before and squeeze the water out. Next, apply styling cream from the roots all he way out to the tips. Then put your damp locks into a tight bun at the nape of your neck and go to bed. In the morning all you have to do is take out the bun and run your fingers through your hair to have a smooth sleek look on top with tons of wavy curls spilling down your shoulders.
Make Dirty Hair Look Clean
Sometimes there just isn’t enough time to get it all done. On days like those, try this tip. Brush your hair into place as usual. Whenever you come across a section that looks greasy, flip your hair over and mist that spot with an alcohol-based hair spray or a dry shampoo. Repeat as necessary. Tousle with your fingers to get that meticulously disheveled look we all die for and run a straightening iron through any sections that don’t cooperate.
Moisturize Dry Hair
No matter what you do, there will still be days, weeks, months or even years where your hair is just simply dry. The first step is to take a look at your shampoo. Most shampoos contain surfactants that wreak havoc on hair, so be sure to only shampoo twice a week at the most. Also remember to use a deep-conditioning treatment to help replenish natural moisture as well as introducing your hair to the fantastic benefits of essential oils.
