To know which blush will work best for you, you need to understand the different types of blush available. Since we all don’t sport the same skin type, we all need a different type of product to work with our skin and hold their color the longest. There are five basic types of blushes available today, and each one serves a slightly different purpose and a variety of skin types.
Types of Blush
The first, and most popular, type of blush is the powder variety. This medium of blush works very well with most skin types, but is especially effective for those with oilier skin. It is a dense product, which means that the color will go on easily and stay on for a long time. Another popular blush is the cream blush, and this product will work very well on drier skin. This type of blush is usually applied with your fingertips, making it a convenient choice to toss into your purse and reapply when necessary.
Two other types of blush to consider are gels and the tints. These products tend to be more drying on the skin, and the color is usually much sheerer than the powder and cream varieties. These blushes can also be a bit harder to apply, because you need to put them on quickly and blend them well to keep them looking natural. However, when applied correctly these products can give you a kiss of color for a natural look.
There is one more type of blush that is usually best left for evening wear. This is the shimmer blush, which will give you a sparkle when you apply it. The nice thing about a shimmer blush is that you don’t have to restrict it to your cheeks. You can brush a bit on your eyelids, forehead or anywhere that you want to show off an extra bit of dazzle.
Once you know what type of blush you want to use, you will need to select your color. The first thing you need to determine is whether your skin tone tends to run to the cool or warm side of the color palette.
Cool tones will require blushes that have blue undertones, while warmer skin will need a blush with yellow or orange undertones. Once you have determined your skin tone, it will mostly be a matter of trial and error to find the perfect shade of blush for you.
Blush can do much to warm up your skin and help you to sport a healthy glow every day of the year. All you need to do is find the perfect product for your skin type and tone, and you will be on the road to a more beautiful you. Happy shopping!
