Finding the Right Color Palette for Your Complexion This Season

Finding the Right Color Palette for Your Complexion This SeasonWomen not only come in all different shapes and sizes, but colors as well. Although the beauty industry has now introduced just about every shade of color under the rainbow, searching for just the right color palette can still be challenging for many women. Luckily, you can now find the right color for everything from foundation and concealer to lip color and eye shadow, whether your skin tone is dark, medium-dark, fair, or medium-fair.

Dark skinned women have a challenge all their own. Too many have made the mistake of going either too dark or too light. Thankfully advancements in skincare and beauty have allowed even more ranges of color for women with darker complexions but even so, knowing what will look good on you can still be intimidating. When it comes to foundation, you’ll want to stick to a warm, chocolate colored base with a touch of red added in to prevent the “ashy” look. Choose a concealer in a chestnut shade and invest in a good eye cream that hydrates. For lip liner, use a chestnut shade to line your lips and opt for either cherry or chocolate shades for lipstick color. You can go with clear gloss or violet gloss for a hint of color. On the eyes, mochas, burnt coppers, bronzes, and bright berry tones are ideal. To give your cheeks a natural glow, choose a blush shade with a deep burgundy undertone.

Those with medium-dark complexions should look for foundation colors that even out the skin without looking too orange or muddy. Caramel and honey shades look best, especially when paired with a concealer that is yellowy beige and a tad lighter than your original skin tone. Line your lips with a rich caramel shade and choose a berry lip color that can be worn day or night. Bring out your cheeks with a touch of vibrant pink blush, and make your eyes pop by using a metallic brown hue.

For the fair skinned beauties out there, you’ll want to choose a foundation shade that is sheer but gives your porcelain complexion a healthy sheen. To prevent your skin from looking dull and washed out, stay away from foundation shades that contain reds, oranges, or frosty finishes. For concealer, opt for a hue that reflects the light to counteract dark circles. Choose neutral creamy shades for lip liner as sheer bright pinks for lipstick. Add a touch of fun with a toffee tinted gloss. For the eyes, add a splash of champagne eye shadow that isn’t too glittery.

If you’re a medium-fair complexioned gal, you’ll want a foundation color with a golden yellow undertone to create a natural glow, as well as beige concealer to take care of shadows and red spots. Reddish-brown lip liner and creamy peach are ideal, along with a dusting of peachy pink with flecks of gold for blush. Keep your eyes stunningly simple by using a sheer and pearlescent beige cream hue. The key with this skin tone is to create a healthy glow using neutral colors with a kick. Gold flecks help enhance nude and taupe colors to bring out the best in your features.
