Go Green with Your Makeup

Go Green with Your MakeupGreen eye makeup is often a hue that you either absolutely love or totally hate. However, this year green has gotten plenty of attention, and there are many different types of green shades for you to choose from. No matter what your hair color, eye color or complexion, it is highly likely that you can find a way to go green and look fabulous.

Which Shade of Green will Work for You?

When you are confronted with the many teals, limes and celadons in your cosmetic aisle, it is very possible that you will have a tough time choosing the right green for you. While every complexion is a little different, and the best way to choose a color is always to try it on yourself, you can follow a few basic guidelines that are destined to lead you in the right direction. Blue eyes can truly sparkle when enhanced with green shades like emerald or more playful lime hues. Even green eyes can get in on the act, as long as you stick with matte shadows that come in muted tones. And brown eyes have the greatest array of all, since those deep baby browns will go beautifully with just about any shade of green under the sun. Try a warm color like olive or a bright burst of whimsy with key lime.

How to Go Green

Since green eyeshadow is one shade that is sure to get noticed, a careful application will make the difference between diva and circus attraction. If the idea of putting this shade on your face is too intimidating to contemplate, you can start with a sheer layer of the color that you choose, and gradually add to it until you have the shade that you like. Brighter colors are always best applied in this manner. Another possibility is to begin with a neutral color, like peach or taupe, and sweep a bit of green across your lid crease or use a green eyeliner for a hint of color framing your neutral shade. Keep in mind that when you put so much bold color on your eyes, it is best to go a bit easier on your lip color. Try a nude lipstick with a hint of shimmer or even a clear gloss that won’t compete with those gorgeous green eyes.

This is a great season to try out a green shade that you have never worn before. Whether you lean more toward the muted hues of teal and olive, or want to make a definite fashion statement with a key lime or green apple hue, there is sure to be a green makeup that you will love. Go green and look great!
