It`s All In the Eyes: Creating the Look You Want

It`s All In the Eyes: Creating the Look You WantThe eyes are one of the most popular features of the face. "Windows to the soul", they are often referred to as and are usually the focal point of any woman`s makeup routine. Just ask men, and many of them will tell you that this is their favorite feature on a woman - even more so than other certain assets we may possess. We`ll share with you some tips on creating the look you want for those eyes - from sexy and smoldering, to fresh and gentle, and how to highlight your color by working with different shades.

Creating the Look You Want

We often see celebrities that have the look we want and think that we`d need the top makeup experts to come even close to achieving our coveted look. There`s lots of different tips and tricks you can try that will teach you how to get the look you want. The great thing about eye makeup is all the different possibilities there are - one day you can go with dramatic and smoky, and the next you can go with pastels and shimmers.

Round Eyes, Almond Eyes, and Deep-Set Peepers

If you have very round eyes, you`ll want to avoid lining the entire perimeter of the line as this will create an even more rounded appearance. Line just the outer portion of upper and lower lids, and experts say shading with a medium brown from lash line to crease will give the appearance of more angular shaped eyes. If you have almond-shaped eyes, experts say lining the outer-third portion of the upper and lower lids will accentuate your shape, as well as applying a neutral color over the lid, followed by a medium to dark brown in the crease. If you`re eyes are deep-set, the goal to make them pop more. Experts recommend bringing definition and light to the eyes. Shadow the entire lid with a neutral but shimmery shadow, and enhance the look with some light reflecting browns that shimmer as well. For deep set eyes, avoid using too many dark colors as this can serve to make eyes appear even more deep-set.

The Smoldering Look

The smoldering look for eyes is definitely one of the most popular and is a great choice for evening. To accomplish this look you`ll need a full arsenal - liner (liquid or pencil), shadow, mascara, and brow-liner.

The trick here is blending. First, you`ll want to line the upper lashes with a dark-brown pencil just along upper lashes. On the bottom, you`ll want to line in between lashes. After lining, use a cotton swab or liner softener tot blend the color so it doesn`t look quite as painted. Next, shadow the entire lid in a neutral brown and then choose a darker brown to add contrast in the crease from corner to corner. Next, give lashes a curl and coat with two layers of either dark brown or black mascara, and fill in sparse areas of brows with pencil or powder. Now you`ve got some dramatic eyes!
