Choosing your makeup palette based on the time of the year is passé. Forget the old rules that say only summer months get the bold, bright, refreshing bursts of color. Take inventory of your life and your cosmetic bag and start your week as a whole new you. You enter a room with your emotions and your face. Make them both pop with just the right shade. Here’s how to find it: Wash your face, moisturize well and take a good look in the mirror. What do you want your reflection to say?

“I’m power. Determination. Health. Passion. Strength. I don’t mind your attention; as a matter of fact, I enjoy it.” If this is your mantra, grab that red lipstick reserved for nights out with the girls and pair with your Monday morning outfit. Smoky grey eye shadow – not too much, you’re still at work and want to be taken seriously – light mascara and gently bronzed cheeks round out your look. Needless to say, another coat of mascara and natural lip gloss takes you from the office to a night on the town.

“I’m upbeat, friendly and faithful. I love my feminine side and I love to maintain calm in my life.” You, my dear, are pretty in pink. Not too be taken lightly, your bare eyes dusted with shimmering pink or sand shadow, accented with navy or brown mascara say it all. Your cheeks are rosy or pale pink. Your lips are glossed in glistening pale pink or natural shades.

“You need to know that I’m spiritual, dignified. I’m a visionary who is comfortable with power and luxury.” Queen-that-you-are, find a bold shade of purple eye shadow and don’t be afraid to use it. Compliment your eyes with natural browns on your cheeks and lips.

“I like to be surrounded by illuminated friends. Wisdom and prestige impress and define me. Expensive is my middle name.” Golden glitter is your color from eyes to cheeks to lips. You will find entire cosmetic lines devoted to you. Go for a bold hairdo to attract all the attention you need.

“I’m motivated and need to be active. Dynamic relationships, jobs and hobbies are my thing!” Go-getter, your eyes shout, “AQUA BLUE!” Pair a swipe of liquid color over your lids and under lower lashes with navy or black mascara and pale lips and cheeks.

“You can trust me. I take responsibility, peace and loyalty very seriously. I’m intuitive and happy with my social status. My friends and colleagues hold me in high regard.” Believe it or not, your color is blue. Use it wisely in liners and navy mascara to send your message loud and clear.  

“I’m brainy and I love it. I’m sophistication and class. You’ll have to work to keep up with me, but it will be worth it.” Your signature color is gray. Make your eyes smoke with eye shadows, liner and mascara. To soften your look, blend white frost over your lids and use alone under your brow bone.
