It’s hard to believe that it is almost time to bid farewell to the lazy days of summer, but there are already hints of fall in the air and in the stores. It is time to get your cool weather wardrobe out and ready to go, but make sure that your makeup is ready to go the distance this season as well. There are some great new hues and products coming out this fall, so get ready to hit the shopping circuit to ensure that your face will be sporting the latest autumn trends.

Dramatic Peepers

Rest assured that smoky eyes haven’t gone anywhere just yet, and they will still be going strong this fall. This season, grey will be the new black, and the eyes will have it in plenty of beautiful shades to work on everyone. Another popular eye shadow shade for autumn is purple, and you will see it in everything from the subtlest lilac to the richest burgundies. And if you’re not wild for the cooler colors? You will be able to find plenty of green shadows as well – why not check out the newest olive hues to warm your eyes and your complexion? Metallics will still find their way to cosmetic shelves as well, and gold and bronze shades will be used across the upper lid and lining the lower.

No matter which color palette you choose, eyeliner should be smudged along the lash line for definition, in black, grey or perhaps gold for a hint of the unexpected. Lashes look best when they are curled and given at least two coats of mascara for a nice thick lash that will offset the deep smoky colors of your shadow. When you’re eyes have it, make sure to understate your lips so that they will not be competing for the attention.

Sexy Lips

If you prefer to go light on the eye makeup, you can make up for it in a rich lip color that will become the focal point of your face. There will be rich berry tones, brick red and deep wine so that every complexion will be able to find the perfect shade for lipstick. These deep hues look particularly attractive with eyes done up in a subtle shimmer, and just a sweep of blush across the cheeks for balance. For a more dramatic evening look, you can use grey or olive colored shadows on the eyes as well. Stick with a matte lipstick and avoid the glosses when you are working with such dark lip tones. To properly apply these deep colors to the lips, it is best to use a lip brush that will give you the necessary precision.

Fall is a great time to go for the deep, rich hues that you have been avoiding all summer. Stock up on a few of the new shades in lipsticks and eye shadows, and you will be ready to greet the autumn months in style.
