Makeup Looks for Holiday Get-Togethers

Makeup Looks for Holiday Get-TogethersGetting dolled up is always fun but when the holiday season starts to come around the corner, you may find yourself going into overdrive. If you’re a real makeup savvy gal, you won’t want to wear the same makeup look to all of your get-togethers. The good news is that there are some tips and tricks you can follow and practice at home so that you can tailor your makeup palette to each event you plan on making an appearance to this year.

It’s highly likely that you’ll be invited to your company’s holiday party. This is the time when your coworkers tend to really get decked out and you don’t want to disappoint. However, it is important to keep in mind that these are people you work with on a daily basis, not to mention that your boss and other superiors will be present as well. So while you’ll want to look great, you don’t want to sass up your makeup as if you were going to the bar or club. The best makeup palette for a company holiday party is one that is still professional but maybe with a bit more color. Go for a bright and warm look. Stick to lip colors in shades of burgundy or wine, but don’t go too dark. Avoid fire engine red lips as well. Touch your cheeks with a dab of soft, sheer blush, and go easy on the eye shadow and liner. Go for a matte foundation and be sure to carry blotting pads to control any shiny areas. Do take time to invest in a nice manicure so that you can show off your fingers while shaking hands and making toasts.

During the holiday season, cocktail parties are very popular. For your next appearance at a cocktail party feel free to go glam. This is the time when you’ll want to break out the dramatic eye makeup. You’ll find plenty of inspiration in the following colors: chocolate browns, kohl blacks, and midnight blues. Start off by grooming your brows (using brow powder when needed) but don’t go overboard. Just make sure they are clean and free of stray hairs. Add primer to your brow bone area and eyelids. Apply your eye color, liner and finish with a few coats of mascara. Skip the blush and keep your lip color simple with gloss or a slight tinge of color. The focus should be on your eyes for this event. This makeup palette can also be used for super formal events. You may want to keep it simple by doing a classic smokey-eye, with a nude lip color and foundation that gives your complexion a fresh glow with a touch of blush.

If you plan on keeping things simple this holiday, such as going out for drinks with your girlfriends, then you’ll be able to keep your makeup fairly simple but still with enough oomph to make an impact. Try cream eye shadow in your favorite shade and a slight touch of liner and mascara. Definitely add blush in a shade of pink and finish off with sheer lip gloss with a hint of color. Your look for this type of event should be carefree and fresh faced, not too dark and dramatic.
