Tips for Getting Your Makeup Professionally Done

Tips for Getting Your Makeup Professionally DoneYou don’t have to be a top model to get your makeup done professionally. When you need your makeup to be the best, you can always turn to a professional makeup artist to get you the flawless finish that most of us just don’t have the skills to recreate at home. Of course it helps to know what to expect and how to prepare so that your makeover turns out the best.

Whether you’re getting married, have a modeling gig or are attending a special event, you now have the option of having a professional makeup artist at your disposal. Luckily, major makeup brands now offer their services to everyday customers at affordable prices inside their stores. Most freelance makeup artists that are usually hired to do photo shoots often charge hundreds of dollars so being able to work with certified makeup artists without the professional price is a definite plus.

The first step is to figure out where and when you want to have your makeup done. If you plan on wearing your makeup for a long period of time, you’ll want to schedule your makeup appointment as close to the time of your event as possible without running late. This way your makeup will be fresh and won’t wreck havoc on your skin. As fun as it is to wear makeup, remember that getting it professionally done often involves applying a lot of it and if you wear it too long, the wear and tear can be bad for your pores.

You can choose to have your appointment done either at the makeup counter in a department store or you can visit the actual makeup store itself if one is available. However, be aware that the makeup artists are also salespeople and their priority is to get people to buy their products. It isn’t uncommon for your makeup artist to leave you for a few minutes while assisting a customer. This is also why it is important to schedule your appointment accordingly. It is usually best to allow at least one hour for your makeup to get done. If possible, try to choose a time during the day when the store won’t be super busy.

The day of your makeup appointment, there are a few things to keep in mind. Hair-wise, it’s best to keep it out of your face, since it can get in the way and may get makeup on it. If you are wearing your hair down, bring a scarf to tie around your forehead or a headband that will gently push the hair up and away without ruining your style. Be sure your face is thoroughly cleansed and properly moisturized. The makeup artist may apply a special moisturizer to help the makeup set but either way, you don’t want to show up with dry, flaking skin.

When it comes to your clothes, sometimes getting makeup put on can get a little messy. If you plan on changing into your outfit after getting your makeup done, wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Make sure whatever blouse or shirt you wear on top is a button up style so that you won’t have to risk pulling the shirt up and over your head, which can smear your makeup. For those wearing their outfit to the makeup appointment, bring a towel or small sheet to wrap around your neck to protect your clothes.

Some makeup stores charge a small fee to book a makeup appointment, usually $50 but others simply require that you buy a certain monetary amount of products.
