Glitzy or Glam? Makeup Tips for Red Carpet Evenings

Glitzy or Glam? Makeup Tips for Red Carpet EveningsIf you have a big night coming up, you will want to make sure that you are the belle of the ball or the star of the show. Of course, a great look begins with great makeup that will allow you to shimmer and shine. Some events call for sheer, classic glam, while others can handle a bit more sparkle. No matter what look you are going after, we`ve got you covered with makeup tips from glitzy to glam and everything in between.

Begin with the Basics

Your foundation will be the base for the rest of your look, so take the time to choose the right one and apply it well. Begin with a freshly washed face and a light moisturizer that will provide a smooth palette for the rest of your makeup.

Glitzy: Begin your look with a light-scattering complexion enhancer that will give you a subtle glow all night long.

Glam: Dewy is the way glamour girls begin their look, so check out your choices in moisturizing foundations.

Add Drama to the Eyes

The eyes are the focal point of any gorgeous look, so give yourself plenty of time to do them up right. A quick sweep of a single color will not cut it for this special night. Smoky eyes with a number of shades will be the perfect choice.

Glitzy: Metallic eye shadows and liners are the perfect way to give your eyes some extra shimmer. If you go with the metallic shadow, stick with a solid black liner and mascara. If you prefer to go metallic with your eyeliner, keep your shadow more subtle in a coordinating matte shade.

Glam: Jewel tones are the best choice for the classic diva. Deep plums, blues and greens are perfect for the smoky eye effect. Finish off with a thick application of liquid liner in black, and add some false eyelashes if you dare!

Pump up the Lip Color

To balance the eyes, you need to add lip color, but you don`t want the two to compete with each other for the spotlight. If you want to go with a brighter lipstick, simply tone down the eyes a bit, or use a neutral shade of lipstick or a sheer gloss if your eyes are going to take center stage.

Glitzy: Deep red lipstick can be the perfect combo with metallic eye shadow as long as the shades coordinate well. If your eyes are vying for attention, settle for a gloss with high shine and a bit of sparkle.

Glam: Red is the natural choice for a look that says classy, but don`t overlook the sweet elegance of pink and mauve shades either. These will work particularly well if you want to play up your jeweled eyes, and you can add a bit of gloss on the middle of the lower lip for a subtle pout if you like.

Evenings on the town call for a special touch to your makeup. Go glitzy or go glam, but let your face shine on your special night.
