News about Waterproof Makeup

News about Waterproof MakeupWhile we all look forward to the fun and relaxation that the summer months can bring, there are a host of challenges that come into play when we want to look our best. From hair that runs the gamut from droopy to frizzy, to makeup that doesn’t seem to want to stay on our faces when the hot weather hits, we must adjust our beauty routine if we want to greet the summer months in style. One way to look like a diva all summer is with waterproof makeup.

You may be thinking that waterproof makeup would make perfect sense for a day at the pool or the beach, but what about the rest of your summer days? The truth is that waterproof makeup can also help you to win the battle of sweaty summer days, when makeup has a lot more trouble staying where you want it to. From foundation to mascara, you can probably find waterproof varieties available for you to try. However, these formulas will come with a host of special concerns and application techniques that are unique to the waterproof varieties. It is time to get savvy to the application and removal of waterproof makeup.

Application

Waterproof formulas are most often available in foundations, eye shadows and liners, lip liners and mascaras. These specialty makeup products will help you to beat the heat by combating sweat and staying in place beautifully. However, waterproof formulas can be tricky to apply, and even trickier to remove. Many types of waterproof foundations set rather quickly, requiring you to apply it in light, quick strokes and to add additional layers when appropriate. Before taking waterproof mascara to your eyelashes, it is a good idea to wipe of the wand with a bit of paper towel to ensure that you don’t have clumping occur during application. Clumping of this type of mascara can be even harder to comb away than other mascara formulas.

Removal

At the end of the day, it is essential to remove all makeup before bed to avoid breakouts on your skin and breakage of your eyelashes. Waterproof makeup can be more challenging to remove, since a washing with water is not sufficient to do the trick. It is important to use a makeup remover that is specifically designed to remove waterproof makeup. It is also good to note that the makeup remover that you use on your eyes is generally not the right product to use on the rest of your face. You will probably need two types of removers to get all of your daily products cleaned away. In a pinch, baby oil can also make an effective eye makeup remover. Put a bit on a cotton pad, and gently wipe your lids and lashes in a downward direction until every bit of shadow and mascara has come off.

Waterproof makeup can be a great choice in the summer, whether you are spending a day at the beach or an afternoon sweating it out on the front porch. With a bit of extra care in application and removal of your waterproof makeup, you can survive those warm summer days in the coolest of style.
