Nighttime Makeup Looks for Blondes, Brunettes and Redheads

night makeupThe nighttime is the perfect time to create bold and daring new looks or experiment with striking colors. While daytime colors such as neutral browns or muted shades of pinks and peaches can be upgraded to a nighttime look, the fun part of nighttime makeup is following no rules to create a unique and individual look.

Some tips for blondes, brunettes and redheads include:

Blondes

Create the smoky eye/pale lip look with a twist. Pass up the black mascara and eyeliner and instead use a rich dark brown for mascara and a pencil liner. Line both upper and lower eyelash lines and blend with a clean cotton swab. Apply two-three coats of mascara on upper lashes and two coats on lower lashes. Dust sheer pink or peach blush on the cheekbones only and downplay lips with a sheer pink or peach lip-gloss mixed with a bit of concealer.

For dramatic eyes, apply a creame eye shadow in metallic purple, copper or navy (make sure color is appropriate to individual skin tone) to eyelids only. Skip liner and apply two-three coats of brown black mascara on upper and lower lashes. Apply one-two drops of shimmer on cheekbones and compliment lips with a sheer rose or peach lipstick and a touch of clear lip-gloss in the center of the lower lip.

Brunettes

Brunettes are able to experiment with bold colors such as teal, blue, purple and green. For a twist on the dramatic eye, line upper eyelash line with a shimmery pencil liner in one of the mentioned shades. Extend the tip slightly and wing upward. Line lower lash line lightly. Dust cheekbones with sheer pink or peach blush and fill in lips with clear lip-gloss.

For standout lips, line lips with a lip pencil in a color matching natural lip color. Use a lip brush to apply one coat of deep mauve or sheer red creame lipstick. Blot, apply a second coat and apply one coat of clear lip-gloss. With strong lips, keep eye makeup minimal with two coats of soft black mascara only and a light dusting of sheer pink or peach blush.

Redheads

A light to medium green or copper eye shadow is striking against red hair. Apply shadow to eyelid only, line upper eyelash line with a medium brown pencil and apply two-three coats of brown mascara. Use a shimmery peach blush and lip-gloss in the same color mixed with clear gloss.

Create a bronzed, tropical beach inspired look by first using a tinted eyebrow gel on eyebrows. Use a creame eye shadow in a shimmery copper on eyelids and as a liner on the lower lash lines. Apply two coats of brown mascara and one-two dots of the eye shadow on cheekbones. Use a bronzer brush to apply shimmery bronzer to the apples of cheeks and temples and mix peach and clear lip-gloss for lips.
