Hot pink lips used to be solely reserved for the catwalk and fashion magazines but not anymore! Hot pink lips, if done right, are more than welcome in the everyday world (probably not in the workplace, though). What’s hot this year in addition to sporting hot pink lips? Black eyeliner! When applying your black eyeliner, it is vital that you maintain control while lining in order to avoid creating lines that are too heavy or thick. One trick to keeping a steady hand while lining your eyes is to place your fingers near the end of the eye liner pencil and hold it closely, almost like you’re choking it. This will give you greater control as opposed to holding onto the middle of the eye liner. Make sure the point is clean and sharp for the most accurate line and choose a soft black formula. Start tracing your inner and outer edges of your upper and lower lashes. Be sure to keep the line as thin as possible. One trick to keeping your liner in place and prevent smudging is to brush a thin layer of translucent powder over your liner. Use a small makeup brush to do this. Next up are the lips. Use a small and firm lip brush for even coverage and choose a hot pink shade that works with your skin tone. After applying the color, line the inner edges of your lips with a creamy nude pencil in order to create definition and prevent bleeding. Blot, reapply your lip color, and then blot again for lasting power.
If you’re a fan of blue, then you’ll love indulging in this next colorful makeup look: smoky blue eyes and nude lips. To pull off this look, you’ll want to begin by choosing a navy blue eye liner to line your upper and lower lashes. Prevent harsh lines by gently smudging your liner using a small brush. Next, gently use your small brush to “buff” your upper lashes. This allows the liner to work as a base for your eye shadow to adhere to. Now take your blue eye shadow of choice (matte is best for this look) and apply it on top of your liner. Keep your color focused on the center of your eyelid and avoid going past the crease or else it will look overdone and dramatic. Lastly, apply your favorite nude lipstick shade and you’ll be good to go.
Need something a little bit less colorful? Then you’ll love sporting gold eye shadow and coral colored lips. Take your favorite gold eye shadow (with a hint of shimmer) and apply it to the center of your eyelids as well as the inner corners. Instead of using regular eyeliner, take a stiff brush and use your gold eye shadow to gently smudge the color along your lower lashes for a highlighted appearance. For the lips, apply a thin layer of coral color using a lip brush. Be sure to feather the coral around the edges of your lips to eliminate the need for lip liner and to create a more natural finish. And that’s it!
