Never fear! You don’t have to look like you’re ready for circus life to be in style. While these hues are bold and bright they are also very sheer and will add life to the traditional spring colors you already own. Imagine candy apple red mascara that, when applied to the lash tips, compliments your favorite pale rose eye shadow. For this super pouty, spring innocent look, highlight pale rose shadow (applied to the crease for a strikingly deep look) with frosty white or frosty pink-blush shadow along the brown and lash lines. Sweep lash tips only with red mascara. Keep the rest of your face subtle when using primary colors on your eyes. Choose a matte nude lipstick or natural gloss, and crème blush in natural hues.
Frosts are back and we don’t mean Jack Frost. Eye, cheek and lip wear has returned to high intensity frost. Worn thick along the upper lash line to replace liner or along both lash lines for drama, drama, drama, white frost shadows are on the scene. They come in chucky pencils that dare you to be bold, and crèmes that go from daytime subtle to the intensity of after-dark. The inside corners of the eyes along the nose are also a hot spot for shimmer this season. Cheek color and lip color have also turned up the shine. Beware! Choose only one feature at a time to frost.
If all this high-profile color has you pulling down your wide brimmed hat, this spring also offers a delicate palette of natural pink, purple and sunset golds that are sure to please. Makeup lines that cater less to the see ya later trends intended for one season runs are holding fast to this season’s trend that offers more staying power. You’ll find these lines are touting beautiful spring hues in the colors of a romantic sunset after a storm. This trend allows you to play up your best feature by keeping all the tones in a balanced array. Accent your cheeks with bronzer and a deep tawny blush. Highlight brow bones and lids with shimmering whites and grays and silver then deepen your look with a sweep of lilac in the crease. Line lips to their fullest with coral crème lip color.
Whichever look you choose, the faces of Spring 2008 are finished with a clear eyebrow gel and a dusting of highlighting powder in pale pink and white focused on the inside corner of the eyes and the T-zone.
