A Teen`s Guide to Applying Makeup

A Teen`s Guide to Applying MakeupLife can already be complicated enough when you’re a teenager. Why make things more complicated when it comes to learning how to apply makeup for the very first time.  Don’t worry; it’s not as difficult as it may sound. Applying makeup just takes a little practice and as they say, practice makes perfect.

Sunscreen

To begin, a good sunscreen is a must for your delicate skin. Always start with a fresh clean face and then apply the sunscreen to your face and neck.

Foundation

You don’t need any foundation unless you have a blemish that you want to cover. To cover a blemish, dab a small amount of foundation over the troublesome area and blend using your fingertip.

Blush

Your blush should be barely there and sheer in color. Look for a pale pink or peach blush. To apply, suck in your cheeks as if you were making a fish face. You should be able to see the bone of your cheek. This is where you want to apply your blush color. A little goes a long ways, so use blush sparingly and sweep the brush across the bone of your cheek and toward the upper part of your ear.

Eye Shadow

Your eye shadow should be just as sheer as your blush. Look for a pale pink or tan eye shadow color. A little shimmer can be fun too, but don’t over do it. Always use a light touch when applying your makeup. To apply your eye shadow, sweep the shadow over the lid of your eye using a sponge tipped applicator or an eye shadow brush.

Eyeliner

Eyeliner can be fun, but dangerous if you’re not careful when applying your makeup. If you’re going to wear eyeliner, it’s best to wear it at a party instead of to school. Choose a light brown shade and apply the eyeliner to your lower lash line only. To apply the eyeliner, draw a line beginning at the inner of the bottom lash line and bring it toward the outer edge of the lash line. Using a q-tip, carefully run the q-tip along the line you just made with the eyeliner. Doing this will give the line you just drew, some softness.

Mascara

Just like eyeliner, mascara should be worn to parties only. Choose a soft brown to keep your makeup looking natural. To apply the mascara, Pump the wand a few times into the mascara tube and carefully apply one coat of the mascara to your upper lashes only.

Lipstick

Stick with a sheer natural looking lipstick or better yet, wear a sheer lip-gloss instead. Choose colors like, peach or pale pink for the lips. You can also try adding a little shimmer to your lips for a fun party look. To apply lipstick, lightly run the lipstick tube across the upper and bottom part of your lip. Usually once is good enough. Pursue your lips together to distribute the color evenly. To apply lip-gloss, dip your pinky finger into the jar of gloss and run your finger over the upper and lower part of your lip.
