Believe it or not, many women are unaware of the fact that the shape and definition of the eyebrows can effectively make the entire eye area look much younger. Instead of spending a small fortune on anti-aging eye serums and other miracle products, simply cleaning up and maintaining your eyebrows can work like a mini makeover. The first step is to have your brows trimmed and shaped. You can either do this yourself or make an appointment to have your brows waxed, plucked or threaded. Make sure you don’t go too thin with your brows - fuller, more natural eyebrows are all the rage now. Severely thin brows actually make you look older. Clean up any stray hairs and make sure you choose a shape that flatters your face and eye shape.
Now that you’ve gotten your brows taken care of you can start the makeup application process. If needed, use brow powder and a brush to cover any gaps where the brow hairs are sparse. Make sure the brow powder color is not too dark. The next makeup trick to help your eye area appear more youthful is by using eyeliner to draw attention away from droopy lids. Use powder eye shadow as liner, which creates a softer look that is not so defined. Apply your eyeliner using a liner brush and rim both the upper and lower lids. Connect the lines at the outer corners and bring the very outer corner up slightly. This will create the illusion of a tighter, firmer eye area. Make sure that the upper eyelid is lined thicker than the bottom.
To further combat droopy eyelids, you’ll want to use the right eye shadow colors to contour your eye area. Apply a dark brown eye shadow color to your eyelids and then follow up with a medium brown color, which you’ll need to apply to the outer half of your eyelid’s crease. Finish with a highlighting eye shadow color (ivory for example) and apply this color to the brow bone (just underneath your eyebrows), which will give the overall illusion of a bright, wide-eyed appearance.
The last step to finish off your youthful eye area look is by adding mascara. Be sure to curl your lashes first, which will really open up your eyes. Avoid going overboard with tarantula eyes. Apply no more than two coats and if you add mascara to your bottom lashes, keep it minimal.
