Dramatic eyes are all the rage, whether it’s during the day or evening. Of course there are more ways to create dramatic eyes than the smoky eye look. The following application tips will help you create an eye makeup look that is dramatic but not too overdone. To help your eye makeup stay longer, it is important to prep the eye area with foundation and concealer. Use a good primer over the lid to ensure that your eye shadow won’t crease. Choose an eye shadow color that stands out, such as a vividly bright color, metallic, or glitter. Apply your eye shadow along the upper lid and onto the crease. Next, use liquid or pencil eyeliner and carefully trace a line along the upper lash line. Do the same for the lower lash line as well. Smudge slightly to eliminate harsh lines. If you want, you can extend the line on your upper lash to create a “cat eye.” This look will create an exotic, mysterious appearance. Add a highlighter color to your brow bone as well as a dab of highlighter on the inner corner of your eyes. Touch up your brows and fill them in if needed, then finish off with a few coats of mascara.
Looking for a classic eye makeup look that you can wear while out and about during the day? Then you’ll want to follow these steps to creating a great classic eye. After prepping your eyelids with primer, use liner (pencil, liquid or dark eye shadow) and apply it to your upper lash line. If you want to look more natural, you can opt to either not line your lower lash line or you can apply a very thin line to the bottom lash line. For applying dark eye shadow as a liner, use an angled makeup brush. Next, take your eye shadow brush and apply a base color on the upper lid, including the crease, and blend. Choose a slightly darker eye shadow shade and apply it to the crease using a crease brush and blend as you go along. Now use a highlighter shade and apply it to the brow bone. Finish it off with 1-2 coats of mascara. Because this is a daytime look, make sure you don’t go overboard with your colors or the mascara.
In addition to the more dramatic and eye catching makeup looks, the natural/basic look is quickly becoming one of the most popular. The key to this look is to keep it simple. That being said, start off by choosing two eye shadow colors - they should both be neutral, complementary shades. Your first shade (the lightest) is going to act as your base color. Instead of using black liner you can opt for a softer look by using dark brown. After you’ve lined your eyes, apply your base color along the upper lid up to the brow bone. Then use your second color and apply to the crease and blend well. Use back and forth motions to get the crease perfect. Touch up your liner is necessary and add one coat of mascara. And that’s it!
