We all want to smell nice. Women certainly seem to take more pride in their scent than men. However, this could be due to the fact that some males find fragrances “girly.” Regardless, many men do prefer a cologne or aftershave of some sort. The question is; how do you know which one is right for you? Well, the best way is to test them out.
The cosmetic markets are loaded with perfumes, body sprays, aftershaves, and deodorants. Well, they all certainly have one thing in common. Their goal is to help you smell nice. While many men love to slap on their favorite aftershave, or hit the neck and chest with a couple shots of their favorite cologne, you don’t want to overdue it. This can result in a catastrophe of scents that simply make others wince when passing by.
Most men always start with a good deodorant or antiperspirant. We all want one that smells nice and clean, but also controls the sweat factor. While this ritual is common sense, many of us aren’t fragrance savvy. Do I use a cologne or an Eau de Toilette, and what’s the difference? Well, if you’re looking for a stronger fragrance, then an Eau de Toilette may be right for you. They have a higher perfume oil content than colognes and aftershaves, and will last better throughout the day.
Some men just prefer to slap on a good smelling aftershave. With the vast selection available today, it’s easy to find that perfect scent that also offers good healing benefits for freshly shaved skin. A fine aftershave in combination with your deodorant should definitely do the trick. Adding a spray Eau de Toilette or cologne to the equation can prove a little overpowering for those in close proximity. The key to fragrance is not overdoing it.
A fairly new and evolving trend to the male fragrance market is body spray. A number of products have hit the market and cost considerably less than a fine Eau de Toilette or cologne. With most body sprays, the fragrance is rather mild, therefore can be applied more liberally. Once again, these go well with your daily deodorant, but probably don’t need the addition of a cologne or heavy spray.
In the current world of men’s fragrances, males certainly have much to choose from. Whether you choose an Eau de Toilette, cologne, or body spray, really just comes down to personal preference. Fortunately there are loads to choose from and scents to suit virtually anyone. It basically comes down to finding that perfect aroma that wears well on you, and applying it wisely.
