Round Face
Guys with a round face shape tend to be heavier built with a chin or jaw that has a layer of baby fat. This shape needs a style that will make the face appear thinner. An off center part or the addition of more hair on the top and sides will help to minimize a round face.
In addition you can wear a moustache to draw attention away from the shape. If you have a receding hairline, you can balance out a round face by wearing your hair longer in the back.
Oval Face
If you’re a guy with an oval face shape, you’re lucky enough to be able to wear just about any hairstyle you choose. If your lifestyle and place of work permits it, an excellent look for an oval shape is longer hair.
Triangular Face
If you have a triangular face shape, you’re faced with the problem of trying to find a hairstyle that doesn’t enhance your pointed chin. To eliminate this problem, stick with a style that is closely cropped at the crown and near the temples and allow the hair to grow a little longer in the back. In addition to the cut, try wearing a full beard to help balance the jaw line.
Oblong - Rectangular Face
If you have an Oblong or somewhere in between oblong and rectangular shaped face, you will want to wear a style where the actual hairline isn’t exposed. Layered cuts are generally the best solution for this shape with the hair cut lower on the top and the sides fuller. To shorten your face and give it more balance, try wearing a mustache.
Square Face
A square face shape is somewhat similar to a round shape, but with the exception of a thicker jaw and chin area. If you have this particular shape, you will want to keep your sides fuller to thin the face and balance the jaw and chin. You can go for a squared off messy look for the top of the head or keep it as simple as a flat top. Longer hair is a good option for this shape as long as it compliments the face.
Square – Rectangular Face
If you fall somewhere in between a square and rectangular face shape, stick with a square style, but add messy bangs to the look. To camouflage a soft chin, try a goatee or mustache.
While the above facial shapes are a great start when choosing a hairstyle that is right for you, there are also a few other considerations you should also keep in mind. For example, if you have a large nose that you would like to minimize, try combing the hair forward at the forehead and sides. If you have a long neck, wear your hair longer to minimize the length. For a shorter neck, wear your hair short. If you have a large forehead, part your bangs to one side. For a shorter forehead, try adding bangs.
Also keep in mind that your hair type and texture will play an important role in choosing your hairstyle. If you have naturally curly hair and a round face, this can create a problem and add fullness where it isn’t needed. You can try a hair straightener or ask your stylist about ways to eliminate this problem. If you have fine hair, opt for longer layers and for thicker hair go for shorter messier cuts. If you have thinning hair or you are going bald, wear your hair very short or just go completely bald.
