Hair Care Steps for Men that Need More Volume

Hair Care Steps for Men that Need More VolumeThinning hair for men can be a nightmare. Just short of seeking hair replacement treatments and miracle products, trying to disguise thinning hair is actually possible if you know the right tricks. If you find that your locks are lacking in volume, all you’ll need to do is switch up your hair care regimen and do a search for the right kinds of hair care products that will give you volume and lift that appears natural and will allow you to work with what you have instead of wishing for what you don’t.

Take a look at the hair care products you currently use. Chances are they are contributing factors to your thinning hair. Gels, mousse and even shampoo products are prone to weighing down the hair, making it heavy, which eliminates any hope of lift or volume. Additionally, the heavy ingredients contained in these hair care products only serve to flatten your hair, emphasizing its thinness. Men that are looking for more volume should invest their time and money into hair care products that are specially formulated to provide a natural lift in volume. These items can be found in a number of places, including your local drugstore, salon or on the Internet. These days there are different versions of your favorite gels, mousse, shampoo and conditioning products b- just make sure they have the words “voluminizing” or “lift/lifting” on the label. Also check that the formula and ingredients are lightweight. The fewer products you put in your hair, the better so do your best to keep the number of hair care products you apply to a minimum.

In addition to purchasing quality voluminizing hair care products, the way you take care of your hair also has the ability to make a difference in hiding your thinning hair by pumping up the volume. When it comes to washing your hair, only use lukewarm water instead of hot water. After you have shampooed and conditioned your hair in the shower, give your head a dose of cold water. This not only gives your hair a natural shine, it is healthier for your locks and prevents them from becoming prone to dryness and breakage. Once you step out of the shower after washing your hair, use your towel to blot your hair dry - do not rub.

After blotting your hair dry, you’ll need the following items to give your locks the final voluminizing boost it needs: blow dryer, comb attachment and a medium sized, round barrel brush. If you have a voluminizing gel or mousse product, you can apply it before blow drying. Taking one to two inch sections of your hair, use the barrel brush to lift the hair away from your scalp and then apply the blow dryer with the comb attachment and angle the dryer downwards as you run it through your hair. Go from roots to ends. Repeat this until you’ve done your whole head. To style, use your fingertips instead of a brush or comb, which can flatten your hair.
