Hair Care for Men

Hair Care for MenOften when we think about hair care we think women, but what about men’s hair care? There is virtuously unlimited information on the web for women’s hair care, yet when it comes to men’s hair care the pickings are slim. While it used to be that women were the only ones interested in hair care, today men have discovered that great grooming is an essential to building great self-confidence.

A good hair care routine is important and should be a daily ritual in everyone’s life.

When it comes to great hair care, the first and most important step is figuring out what type of hair you actually have. Dry, Oily and Normal are the three basic types of hair.

Dry hair is usually caused by inactive oil glands and will need a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

Oily hair is just the opposite and due to overactive oil glands. A good shampoo and conditioner made for oily hair is ideal for this hair type.

Normal hair is balanced in oil glands and is the easiest to maintain in hair types. A shampoo and conditioner made for normal hair should be sufficient.

Once you have identified your hair type the next step is shampooing your hair. To being, wet hair with warm water and then apply a quarter to a half-dollar size amount of shampoo into your hair. Using your fingertips, gently massage the shampoo into the scalp and hair and then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Conditioning should be the next step in your hair care routine. Begin by applying a quarter to half-dollar size amount of conditioner into the hair and leave it in for a few minutes. After the time is up, rinse the hair thoroughly and pat hair dry with a soft towel.

The final step in your hair care routine is combing. Combing instead of brushing will prevent damaged hair and be less likely to tangle no matter what your hair length may be. Using a wide-tooth comb start with the ends of your hair in a downward motion, working your way up to the roots until hair is smooth. Now your hair is ready for styling.

If you prefer there are numerous styling products available on the market. Styling gels, creams and mousses are just a few to name. These are simple enough to use by squeezing a quarter size amount into he palm of your hand and applying through wet or dry hair depending on the look you want to achieve.

It’s also a good idea to use a deep or leave in conditioner. Both deep and leave-in conditioners are very beneficial to dry hair especially since they aid in maintaining moisture and help to minimize frizziness in hair. Apply at least once a week to hair following manufacturer’s instructions. Now that you’ve got great hair, give yourself a pat on the back and smile at a job well done.
