First, and it goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway, beauty that’s only skin deep isn’t worth the makeup she’s wearing or the time it took to put it there. So there must be a lot that you love about this girl other than her looks.
Tip #1 Boost Her Confidence
Let her know the qualities you see in her that give her that deep down beauty. Lack of confidence is the number one killer of killer good-looks. If your girl feels like she’s ugly, fat, stupid… the list goes on, she probably doesn’t want anyone to notice her for fear they’ll realize these awful “truths” and either leave her or point them out. If she’s been abused or mistreated in her past, this may require some patience and honesty on your part.
Tip #2 Listen When She Talks
This one comes immediately after taking a shot at tip #1. You’ll have to prove yourself worthy of a makeover and the effort it’ll take to put her self out there for all the world to see.
Tip #3 Have A Heart-To-Heart
Since no relationship lasts without communication, why not start now. Be honest about your feelings regarding her appearance. Ask why she never bothers to style her hair or wear clothes that accentuate her body. And then refer quickly back to tip #2 and throw in a few #1’s.
Tip #4 Take Her Shopping
If her appearance matters enough to bring it up, be willing to put your money where your mouth is. Go online or get a few catalogues and pick out entire outfits – head to toe. One shirt or a new pair of jeans won’t cut it for the girl who’s let herself go. You’ll have to dress her up cold turkey. Here’s a hint, take her out to a nice dinner or dancing in her new duds the day you buy them. Make her wear them out of the store, as a matter of fact. Let her experience the new her and enjoy a few looks from admirers – if you can handle it!
And it’s not just the clothes. You’ll need to take her to a salon for a haircut that compliments her face and to a makeup counter for a consult on what shades will make her shine.
Tip #5 Let’s Make A Deal
Make a few improvements yourself or cut out an annoying habit in exchange for that shopping trip and a promise that she’ll actually wear the clothes and makeup. You may need to resort to this one if she’s resisting, or use it to spur her on to even greater advancements like highlights or teeth whitening.
Tip #6 Follow-up
Treat her to a day at a spa to maintain that new-found beauty. Find one with killer links and get in a few rounds while she’s soaking in essential oils. And, most importantly, don’t let her appearance become more important than who she is with the makeup off and her hair in a ponytail. Remind her that you know what makes her beautiful and you’re sure to hold on to that bombshell by your side.
