Quick Skincare Fixes for Male Skin

Quick Skincare Fixes for Male SkinThere may be times when you’ve got a really important event to attend and you want to make sure your skin looks its best. It’s not impossible. It simply takes some discipline and TLC to keep your complexion in tip-top shape without having to resort to crazy skincare products and overnight treatments.

Once you’ve got the date marked for your special shindig, start paying more attention to your skin and break bad habits. Put away the bar soap and invest in a good and gentle facial cleanser tailored for your skin type. Oh, and it helps to actually know your skin type, too! While convenient, using bar soap on your face exposes your skin to harsh waxy binders and other ingredients that only excel in dehydrating your complexion by stripping the skin’s natural moisture. Not only does the use of bar soap on your face lead to irritation when shaving, it can also cause you to breakout - the last thing you need before a special day.

Because male skin is thicker and oilier than female skin (unless you are a dry or sensitive skin type) you can include an exfoliating product to your skincare routine 2-3 times a week. The process of exfoliating safely and gently removes layers of dead skin cells. Regularly shaving can also work as an exfoliating process but using a good quality exfoliating facial scrub will provide your skin with moisture, nutrients and other goodies it’ll enjoy.

If you want to get a smoother shave for your special event, lay off shaving altogether for a few days and when it does come time to shave, do it in a warm shower. Allow the shaving cream to sit for at least one minute on your skin before using your razor. When the hair gets longer, the razor grazes across the skin better, resulting in a closer, smoother shave. Not to mention that it doesn’t hurt to give your skin a break once in a while from shaving.

Avoid picking or popping pimples -no matter how annoying. Once you cause scarring, you’ll have to deal with it and it most likely won’t heal completely by the time your event comes around the corner. Instead, stick to your daily skincare routine and apply ointment or balm to treat the inflammation and other symptoms.

To beat the signs of under eye puffiness or a dull appearance around this area, start applying an eye gel mask product over your eyes for 5-10 minutes. You can also use a cool washcloth or the old fashioned cucumber slices as well. Follow up with eye cream.

Moisturizing your skin is also essential in maintaining a smooth and clean complexion. Invest in a moisturizer that is made for your skin type and be sure to use it on a daily basis. Make sure it includes anti-aging properties and antioxidant ingredients to help your skin looks its best.
