Spa Services For Men

Spa Services For MenWhen it comes to enjoying a day at the spa, more men are foregoing the couch-version of R&R and joining women for a relaxing and rejuvenating day of pampering. In the recent past, spa services were geared towards the female population, but spas all over the country are now gearing up with male-minded services and have received quite the response. Now men have joined the movement of treating yourself to the restorative and cleansing services that spas offer in helping us maintain a youthful and healthy appearance.

Are Men Really Responding to the Spa Movement?

And you thought paying someone to help you look and feel your best was just for women? Not anymore. Day spas are reporting that their male clientele has grown over thirty percent in recent years and you may be surprised to learn that this includes not only corporate-climbing, white-collar executives, but blue-collar genteleman as well. It seems men from every walk of life are evolving to understand the benefits that women have reaped from visiting day spas for years now.

Spas in the United States have helped usher in this new attitude towards male primping by going out of their way to help men feel comfortable and secure when receiving spa services. Because many men may feel intimidated or apprehensive about spending such time or money on services that involve a type of upkeep that has traditionally been considered only female, spas have helped break this stereotype by innovating new male-focused treatments and products and revising their marketing strategies to include new populations. Many spas have chosen to market themselves as “health retreats” in an effort to reduce the female-only stereotype of visiting a spa and offer packages geared especially for men that include golf, hiking, and other outdoor sports.

What’s In It For You?

As women have long known, a day at the spa not only promotes a more youthful and healthy appearance, but is an opportunity to get away and spend some time with spa-going friends. More and more men are realizing that a day at the spa is yet another opportunity to enjoy some time with the boys. Moreover, depending upon the type of treatment you opt for, many men have been surprised to learn the benefits of these healthful services may help to improve male-specific skin-care issues as well as improve physical performance and reduce aches and pains.

So what types of treatments will you receive at a day spa? The choice is up to you and you’ll have no shortage of services to pick from. Treatments can focus on rest and relaxtion and include aromatherapy, sauna therapies, and all sorts of massages from deep tissue to Swedish and stone therapy. Some services may focus on cleansing, rejuvenation, and renewal with several different types of facials, moisturizing treatments, exfoliating treatments, and herbal or homeopathic treatments. You may be up for a more in-depth or corrective treatment such as a peel, microdermabrasion, or even accupunture. Then there are always the more unusual treatments such as seaweed wraps or mud baths that, however bizarre, still boast many benefits. The possiblities are endless.

Exfoliation: It’s Not Just for Women Anymore

The term “exfoliation”, often elicits the same male reaction that a discussion of football strategies or catalytic converters typically elicits in women – a sigh, a roll of the eyes, and a change of subject. But for the ninety-percent of men that aren’t familiar with exfoliation, it’s high
