Without a doubt, the best tools to shape your goatee are manual straight edged razors, which are typically found at beauty stores instead of your local pharmacy. Manual razors are adept at touching hard to reach areas like those near your nose and upper lip. It also adds precision to the entire process, whereas razors like the Mach 3 Turbo or Fusion have too many blades to keep it civil. In order to achieve a uniform look, use an electrical shaver and keep it even. When shaving your face every morning, shave around the goatee. Try to opt for clear gels or shaving oils instead of regular foam cream. Foam creams help to hide the areas you want to shave, whereas gels are highly translucent – a boon when you want to create a symmetrical goatee.
When shopping for an electric trimmer, don’t go overboard. A $20 one is more than enough. Make sure it comes with a built in length selector. Usually, trimmers come in three length choices or more. Always start off with long lengths and then work your way down to smaller extensions until the length is just right. Also, have a small mirror handy instead of your bathroom mirror. A small mirror positioned to the left and right side of your face will work wonders for your accuracy instead of having to rely on a twist of the head.
Goatees are not for all men. Those with uneven facial hair that takes a long time to go are better served without goatees. Make sure to keep it clean. Take time to shampoo and condition it just like you would your regular hair.
