The Ingrown Hair

The Ingrown HairYou’ve probably been afflicted with an ingrown hair at some point in your shaving career. These nasty little bumps can get out of hand if you don’t take proper actions in order to prevent them. The good news is there are ways to treat ingrown hairs. However, the best solution that will save you a trip to the dermatologist is always prevention.

The endless routine of shaving can certainly have its downside. While nicks, cuts, and razor burn are no picnic, an ingrown hair is even worse. This dilemma occurs when the hair curls back up under the skin’s surface, resulting in a pimple-like bump. While many ingrown hairs tend to fix themselves over time if left alone, some only get worse. One way to tackle this burden is with a tweezers. Plucking the hair may be a temporary solution, but can result in irritation, or another ingrown. Electrolysis is typically a better route to obliterating the problem altogether.

A man’s beard is the most likely place for an ingrown hair or whisker. Curly hair is the culprit. The curlier your fuzz, the more prone you are to ingrown whiskers. Fortunately there are products on the market today that can aid in the treatment and prevention of ingrown hairs. While these products can do wonders for the mug, proper shaving is the most prudent path of all. It’s important to remember that shaving against the hair growth is a no-no. Always shave with the grain and try to relax the muscles while making those gentle strokes. A clean, sharp blade is crucial regardless of what area you’re shaving.

The absolute best way to deal with irksome ingrowns is prevention. There are simple steps that any shaver should adopt before slapping on the cream. Proper exfoliation with a quality scrub is necessary for sloughing away dead skin and allowing the hairs to stand. This will result in a much cleaner shave. A steamy shower prior to shaving is also beneficial in softening a man’s whiskers, hence reducing drag. Even if you wax, you still must prep the area by exfoliating properly. Rich aftershaves and moisturizers are perfect for claming the skin and preventing any irritation. You’ll want to avoid products high in alcohol, which can dry out the skin and cause more problems.

Yes indeed, the ingrown hair can be a nightmare. Luckily there are simple solutions at hand. Regular exfoliation and proper shaving is the key to prevention. If you are afflicted with a curly dew, and ingrown hairs simply seem inevitable, you’ll probably want to invest in a good treatment, which can seriously prevent and reduce the ingrown hairs at hand.
