Fruits
Getting more fruits in your daily diet is actually a lot easier than eating more vegetables but that hasn’t stopped many of us from forgetting to include these essential foods in our meals. If eating a whole fresh piece of fruit isn’t part of your eating habits, break them up and include them in the meals you enjoy normally. Not thrilled about downing at least one banana a day? Then take the easy route and chop it up into your cereal. This old school tradition still works wonders for both children and adults alike, not to mention that it’s the easiest way to get much needed potassium. To add more appeal to eating apples, dice them up and throw them into your next salad for a different taste that’s unique, healthy and delicious.
For a real treat, combine fruits together to make your own fruit smoothie. Or combine a handful of grapes, strawberries, raspberries, cherries and bananas and add a few scoops of ice cream for a tasty desert that won’t make you feel guilty.
Vegetables
If you have a few vegetables that you don’t already mind eating daily that’s a plus but for those of you who aren’t thrilled about eating vegetables in general, try the following tips to make things easier:
·
If there’s anything that can make the taste of vegetables more appealing, it’s how you cook them. The next time you get a batch of veggies you want to try out, combine them with oils, butter and cheeses to add more zest and flavor. To preserve the entire flavor, bake your vegetables within your original dish. By putting vegetables together with your regular meals, this makes it easy to eat and you won’t be distracted by the veggie taste, as opposed to eating the vegetables alone.
·
Try eating the baby versions of vegetables. For many, eating the smaller versions of vegetables makes it easy to get away from the taste factor and is easy to include in your regular meals. You can add baby-sized veggies to everything from your salads and pastas to pizza. Try baby carrots, squashes, artichokes, and turnips for a change.
·
When in doubt, toss your vegetables in the fryer. You’d be surprised how different a vegetable can taste when it’s seasoned and fried to a crisp. Add your favorite dip and you won`t be able to tell the difference!
