Good Nutrition

Your Key To Fighting the Signs of Early Aging

good nutrition

Researchers have established that next to avoiding cigarette smoke and chronic exposure to the sun, a nutritious diet is the most influential thing we can do to slow the aging process of our skin. How gracefully we age is largely determined by the foods we eat throughout our lives.

Good Nutrition and Younger Looking Skin

Researchers have collected some very interesting data from their studies of aging across different cultures and you may be surprised at the results. Scientists have studied the diets of cultures across the world that seem to boast the longest-living, yet youngest-looking people in the world and have reported their findings in an effort to convince American`s to change their diets. Some of the most popular studies conducted involved the Aborigines, an Australian culture whose diet has for thousands of years consisted of fish, wild game, nuts and beans, and whose population rarely suffered from incidences of heart attack, stroke, or diabetes. Once this culture was introduced to the more modern diet of their English counterparts, however, their incidences of these ailments greatly increased. Another culture well known for it`s long-living, so much so that there are more centenarians here than in any other culture in the world, is the Okinawans. Their diet consists mainly of fish, vegetables and fruit, and a limited intake of meat.

What Is the Best Diet to Prevent Premature Aging?

The International Anti-Aging Expert Commission has established the Anti-Aging Dietary Norms (AADN) - a set of nutritional data developed for scientists, doctors, and researchers dedicated to the anti-aging cause. These norms aim to improve several human conditions, but among them is human aging. The AADN contains nutritional standards of fifty-eight nutrients divided into six groups - Amino Acids, Lipids, Carbohydrates, Vitamins, Elements, and the main group which includes proteins, fiber, and water.

Fruits and vegetables are laden with nutrients and vitamins that prevent the signs of aging - nutrients that help the skin heal damage and renew cells. Vegetables such as Brussels sprouts, cabbage, radishes, and watercress are all great for helping the skin fight disease and reversing external damage. Essential fatty oils are also key is maintaining healthy and younger looking skin by providing hydration at a level that promotes suppleness and elasticity, resulting in fewer fine lines and wrinkles. Soy has also been found to greatly aid the process of repairing damaged cells and protecting it from external aging factors such as pollution and sun damage. All of these vitamins and nutrients help to dissolve the free-radicals that also contribute to premature aging. Other important ingredients contained in a healthy diet that help aid this process are Antioxidants and Vitamins A, E, C, and D, found in vegetables and fruits such as citrus, strawberries, and melons. Top this plan off with plenty of H2O and limited sweets and sugars, and you`re on your way to younger looking skin!
