Make Your Super Bowl Party Fun & Healthy This Year!

Make Your Super Bowl Party Fun & Healthy This Year! Here it is another year and another Super Bowl to look forward to. The Super Bowl party is an age-old tradition that millions of football fans plan for months in advance. If it’s your turn to host your neighborhood Super Bowl party do something different this year by offering food items and snacks that are healthier but not lacking in taste. You’ll be doing yourself and your friends a favor by providing them with healthy snacks - and they won’t even know it!

Although more people are starting to become health conscious these days, when it comes to parties and a celebration, nutrition is often the last priority. Guests just want to have fun and the thought of eating food or snacks that are considered “healthy” will often cause them to cringe. If you don’t want this to happen at your Super Bowl party, have no fear because there are plenty of snacks and meals you can prepare that are flavorful and with the right recipes, you’ll have everyone enjoying your food without second guessing it.

What would a Super Bowl party be without good ole chips and dip? Before heading to the grocery store and investing in jars of fattening dip, try out this yummy recipe for something fresh, new, and healthy:

Homemade Salsa Dip: Gather together the following ingredients:

·    3 finely chopped cloves of garlic

·    1 green bell pepper, chopped

·    8 sliced green onions

·    3 large, seeded and chopped tomatoes

·    2 tablespoons of chopped cilantro

·    2-3 tablespoons lime juice

·    ½ teaspoon of salt

·    1 tablespoon of chopped jalapeno chile

Pour all of these ingredients into a large bowl and mix together thoroughly. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve. That’s it!

Aside from special healthy recipes, there are common changes you can make in your regular snacks and meals that your Super Bowl party guests will thoroughly enjoy. For example if your guests are fans of popcorn, then simply use low-fat popcorn - chances are they won’t even notice the difference. You can also substitute fattening potato chips with pretzels. Looking for a healthier alternative to chicken wings? You can opt for chicken fingers, which can be made using skinless chicken breasts strips, which can be purchased anywhere. Take these strips and dip them in milk and seasoned bread crumbs and stick them into the oven for 10 minutes until cooked (make sure the meat is still tender and moist). You can use your favorite dips like barbeque or mustard to further enjoy this dish.

If you choose to make sandwiches, simply opt for low fat cheeses, lean meats like turkey, non-fat mayonnaise, and top them with plenty of fresh food items like tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, pickles, onions, and carrots.

Beverages like beer, alcoholic drinks, and soda are popular drink choices for Super Bowl parties but one way to remedy this is to switch these items out with diet soda, water (flavored or vitamin water are also options if your guests don’t see any fun in drinking regular water), juice, and non-alcoholic beer.
