2.        Fruits and veggies are key to staving off skin aging because they contain antioxidants. Our skin cells face daily damage from stress and environmental factors. Antioxidants protect this abuse. To get the most antioxidant benefit, enjoy colorful foods like blueberries, red grapes, broccoli, citrus fruits, spinach, sweet potatoes and cantaloupe. Fruits and vegetables retain more of antioxidants when they are raw.

3.        Go fishing. The best fish choices include cold-water fish like salmon, sardines, tuna, mackerel, cod, herring and trout. All contain essential fatty acids (EFAs) for smoother skin, increased energy and decreased inflammation.

4.        Try a Mediterranean diet that includes lots of heart-healthy olive oil and olives. Good fats, like the mono-saturated fats from olives promote cardiovascular health. Proper heart function is essential for supple, well-nourished skin.

5.        Go green. Try to include several servings of antioxidant green vegetables in your diet. Greens like spinach, collard greens, and escarole contain magnesium to keep you relaxed, regular and slim. Because greens have a high water content they provide a hydration boost!

6.        Eat it raw. While you don`t have to adhere to a raw food diet, know the facts about heated foods. As you learned in chemistry class, when you raise the, a chemical reaction occurs, causing degradation and oxidation. Basically, cooking depletes food - especially vegetables - of nutrients and antioxidants while increasing the formation of free radicals.
