The growth in the use and popularity of topical skin-care just goes to show how much we underestimate the importance of skin-care from the inside out. Vitamins have an incredibly dramatic influence on the largest organ or our body - the skin, and you may be surprised to learn that the key to smooth, gorgeous skin may be through introduction of the proper diet and vitamin rituals to your life. Vitamins are essential to the health of all of our internal organs, so it is only natural to expect that they are key in the proper health, functioning, and appearance of our external organ.
What is The Best Diet for Skin Care? What Vitamins Does the Skin Need for Proper Functioning?
Most of us have noticed that when we don’t take care of ourselves nutritionally, it shows through our skin. Undernourishment or improper diet can make skin appear blotchy, grey, uneven, and can lead to premature aging. Even if we are not doing direct harm to the skin through diet, vitamins are still key to providing the skin with the proper nourishment to fight the daily damage it suffers from pollution, dirt, environmental factors. The benefits of vitamins to the skin can be experienced both by ingesting them orally as well as directly applying them to the skin.
Topical vitamins are applied directly to the skin and include the many benefits of antioxidants. Vitamins found in citric acid and fruits such as Vitamins C and E prevent environmental damage, the harmful effects of the UV rays of the sun, premature aging. Vitamin A, found in the popular product Retin-A, for example, promotes skin healing and also prevents early signs of aging. Both Vitamins B and E promote a healthy glow in the skin and increase the skin’s ability to retain moisture. Many Vitamin B and E products have become alternatives to alpha-hydroxy acids for individuals who find these treatments too intense or drying for their skin. Vitamin K is well-known for it’s treatment for spider veins and under-eye circles by preventing capillary damage. The recent emphasis on beauty from the inside-out has given cosmetics companies an opportunity to expand their product line, with many introducing a new line of vitamins for skin care. Both L’Oreal and Oil of Olay have released daily vitamins specifically targeted to improving the health and look of your skin, so consumers will find some great options when looking to purchase vitamins for skin-care.
The bottom line is that what you put both in your body and on your face greatly affects the health and appearance of your skin. Vitamins are the first step in improving the health of your skin.
