Vitamins come in pill form but also in the very skincare products we apply to our skin. Which is better or should there be a combination for the best results? Vitamins A through E are the most important ones for healthy and beautiful skin.
Having vitamin A present inside the body helps with a number of everyday functions. The main roles include cell division, bone growth and reproduction. Vitamin A helps regulate the immune system, fight off infections and creates white blood cells that destroy bacteria and viruses.
When it comes to skincare, however, vitamin A has been shown to be very effective in treating and clearing up acne breakouts and reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and pores. Skincare-wise, it is best to use vitamin A in the form of topical creams. When applied to the skin, vitamin A is at its most potent. There are many different skincare creams and moisturizers available over-the-counter that you can purchase for your skin’s needs.
The role of vitamin B in the human body plays a number of significant roles, namely increasing blood circulation and tissue repair. Vitamin B is also essential in the formation of red blood cells and plays a part in the metabolism of proteins and carbohydrates. Vitamin B has also been used topically as an anti-inflammatory and in treating nausea and premenstrual symptoms.
So what part does it play in skincare? The best way to see results from using vitamin B in skincare is by taking it in supplement form if you suffer from any deficiencies. If you are in tip-top shape, however, vitamin B will best serve your skin’s needs in a skincare product’s formula. Applying products containing vitamin B work to hydrate and even skin tone.
Vitamin C is one of the most well known vitamins and is needed both inside and out. Vitamin C is responsible for fighting infections, healing wounds, and keeping the blood vessels, ligaments, cartilage and tissues healthy. Vitamin C is also a potent antioxidant that protects the skin cells from free radicals and oxidation.
Because of this main talent, Vitamin C can be used both as a supplement and in skincare products. When taken orally, vitamin C can fight the effects of excessive sun exposure and ward off cancer, wrinkles and fine lines. Applied to the skin, vitamin C enhances the production of collagen and decreases the appearance of sun damage. So cover all your bases and take vitamin C both orally and in the form of skincare creams. Look for ingredients labeled “L-ascorbic acid,” “magnesium ascorbyl phosphate,” or “ascorbic palmitate” for the best skincare forms of vitamin C.
As with vitamin C, vitamin E should be taken both orally and in the form of skincare products as well. When taken as a supplement, vitamin E can effectively reduce wrinkles and improve skin texture. Applied to the skin, vitamin E works to reduce UV-induced skin damage.
