As you’ve just learned, kiwis are loaded with antioxidant power - namely, vitamin C, which is known for doing a lot of good for the human body, such as fighting against free radical damage, which is responsible for contributing to the signs of premature aging. Additionally, filling your body with vitamin C is also ideal for warding off a number of conditions such as cancer, heart disease and strokes. It is also great for boosting your immune system so you can effectively avoid even the most basic colds. Vitamin C isn’t the only potent antioxidant that kiwis carry, however. Vitamin E can also be found in the little, furry kiwi. Vitamin E is another potent antioxidant that works wonders for the health of the skin.
Other impressive capabilities that kiwis have when consumed as a regular part of a person’s diet includes improving eyesight and protecting against asthma. Medical studies show that eating a healthy amount of kiwis throughout a person’s life (three or more servings a day) can decrease their risk of developing macular degeneration, which commonly occurs with old age. Other studies have shown that children who ate between five to seven servings of kiwis a day became less prone to the common symptoms of asthma, such as coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath.
The great thing about kiwis is that you can enjoy their health benefits in a number of dishes. From breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert, you can add kiwis to any of your favorite meals. Throw a few slices of fresh kiwi into your next bowl of cereal to make a delicious breakfast that will start your morning off on the right foot. When lunchtime rolls around, you can create a wonderful salad filled with fresh fruits, including kiwis. One salad recipe you can try at home is to combine eight cups of fresh spinach leaves, sliced strawberries, a half cup of chopped walnuts, sliced and peeled kiwis, two and a half tablespoons of raspberry jam, two tablespoons of raspberry vinegar and one third of a cup of vegetable oil. Toss your healthy and hearty ingredients together in a large bowl and enjoy.
You can even add kiwis to your next dinner recipe. Simply use the Internet to find yummy recipes you and your entire family will love. Of course dessert wouldn’t be dessert without a couple slices of fresh kiwi added.
