You don’t need to go to bartending school to know how to make the following low calorie mixed drinks. And when we say low calorie, we mean it: each of these recipes allow you to serve a delicious beverage that is less than 200 calories!
Do you and your friends love mimosas? Then you’ll want to start learning how to make poinsettia mimosas, which gives your taste buds a helping of cherry, champagne and cranberry. Grab together the following ingredients: one (1) 750 milliliter bottle of champagne, ¼ cup orange liqueur, three (3) cups of cranberry juice and two (2) tablespoons of grenadine syrup or maraschino cherry juice. Take a large glass pitcher and mix in all of your ingredients, stirring thoroughly to combine everything. That’s it! You can decorate your poinsettia mimosa with spiral peels of tangerine or star fruit slices.
Love cocktails? Then check out this recipe for how to make tropical, limeade cocktails. Simply gather together the following: six (6) ounces of dark rum, three (3) cups of boiling water, 1 ¼ cups freshly squeezed lime juice and 1/3-1/2 cup sugar. Begin by boiling your three cups of water and add sugar. Wait until the sugar completely dissolves and then chill in the refrigerator. Next, add your lime juice. This will create the limeade part. When you’re ready to serve your tropical limeade cocktail, pour your rum into the glasses halfway and then add your limeade mixture.
Who doesn’t love a Mojito? Now you can enjoy one anytime without worrying about high calories. To pull off this minty, zesty beverage, you’ll need: ice cubes, two (2) cups of water, limes (cut into quarters), ½ cup of fresh mint leaves, two (2) large limes, 2/3 cup of sugar and ¼-1/2 cup of light rum. Toss your sugar, cut up limes and water into a blender and blend with a cover for 30 seconds. The limes should be chopped in the blender, not pureed. Use a sieve to strain the contents into a pitcher and add two extra cups of water. Stir and place in the refrigerator to chill for at least one hour or as long as 12 hours, depending on when you plan to serve your Mojito. When it’s time to serve, mix in your rum to finish off your Mojito and take your fresh mint leaves and press into the bottom of each serving glass. Add your ice cubes, pour your Mojito and enjoy!
