Keep Your Acne Products All in the Family

Keep Your Acne Products All in the FamilyAcne products tend to be very effective at treating breakouts, cleaning out clogged pores and preventing new blemishes and breakouts from occurring in the future. However, not all acne products work for everyone. Oftentimes, people turn to experimenting with different skincare lines by mixing and matching certain products. This is done in the hopes that the best features of various acne products can tackle a person’s skin issues. But it is important to realize that this may not be the best practice.

While it makes sense that using the best acne products from different skincare lines would seem like a good idea, this can actually do more harm than good for your complexion, especially for those that have acne-prone skin. Acne products in general already contain chemicals that tend to be strong and sometimes even harsh on the skin. Mixing two different types of acne products that contain harsh chemicals could result in a negative skin reaction.

It is important to realize that acne products are specifically designed and formulated to work with other products within the same line, not other brands. Not all acne products contain the same combination of ingredients and when you mix and match, you run the risk of placing too much chemical stress on your complexion from the acne products. This could result in damaging your skin even more and not effectively treating your existing acne issues.

You never know how your complexion is going to react to a skincare product until after you have used it for some time. If you combine different acne product lines together, your skin may not be sure how to properly acclimate to the presence of various chemicals. The results of this type of mixing and matching include allergies, inflammation, rashes and even worse acne breakouts. What’s even worse is that this makes it difficult for you to pinpoint which skincare product is responsible for which reactions. If you find yourself in this situation, stop using all of your acne products immediately and wait for your complexion to go back to its normal state. You may have to visit a dermatologist in order to get your skin back under control. Aloe products also tend to work to soothe red, upset and inflamed skin.

Want to avoid such a negative reaction from occurring in the first place? The solution is simple: find an acne product line that works to combat your skin issues and stick to it. If you want to add a new product to your routine, make sure that it is from this same line as well. This type of mixing and matching should also be avoided by those with other skin types as well, not just acne prone skin.
