Anti-Aging Secrets that Really Aren’t Secrets at All

Anti-Aging Secrets that Really Aren’t Secrets at AllWe’ve all pretty much heard the typical ways anti-aging methods can help us preserve our youth but is there more we can do? Many people, especially women, make it a point to start investing a small fortune into anti-aging products and even procedures such as Botox as solutions to their aging woes. While these factors can be helpful they are not the only remedy. Oftentimes the easiest things in life can help contribute to aging better and prolonging your youthful years.

Among the most common natural anti-aging steps you can take include not smoking, avoiding excessive drinking and not doing drugs. But by now this is common knowledge. However, there are certain things you do in life that can have a negative affect on how you age. For example, did you know that excessive stress can virtually make you age overnight? People that find themselves in a constant state of stress not only age faster, they do damage to their bodies over the long term. Medical studies have shown that excessive stress can lead to high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high sugar levels, as well as cardiovascular disease. Although it is pretty much impossible to live without stress there are ways you can effectively combat the amount of stress you suffer. Learning how to deal with stress is very important. Identify the factors that stress you out and seek out ways you can release your tension. This can include reading a good book, taking a warm bath or talking it out with a friend or loved one. You’ll soon see that your health will be improved, your spirits brighter and you’ll have less frown lines and deep furrows on your complexion.

If you’re a huge fan of coffee and other caffeinated drinks, you’ll be sad to know that excessive consumption of caffeine isn’t good for you or your anti-aging efforts. While the energy boost may help you get through your day, it can in fact contribute to poor quality of your skin, hair and teeth. Additionally, your caffeine overload can cause the jitters, preventing you from getting a good night’s rest and we all know how important it is to get a full night’s sleep. Instead turn to green tea, which has less caffeine but is loaded with antioxidants to fight free radical damage. Green tea is also known to provide a score of health benefits that can help you age better, such as preventing chronic illness, cancer, tooth decay and arthritis. As if that isn’t enough, green tea also contains what is known as catechins. This ingredient works to fight viruses and has been shown to even slow aging. A special antioxidant in green tea, EGCG, is a potent ingredient that is 25 times more effective than vitamin E and 100 times more powerful than vitamin C. Making this drink your beverage of choice will keep you relaxed and help you age better in the long term.
