Anti-Aging on a Budget

Anti-Aging on a BudgetOftentimes most people associate anti-aging products with a high price tag. And who can blame them? From the skincare and makeup counter at your favorite department store to your local drugstore shelves, it is not uncommon to see eye serums, anti-wrinkle creams and anti-aging moisturizers going for $40 or higher. Even the most “affordable” products can still hurt a tight budget. Luckily, there are ways you can get around this and maintain a youthful appearance without going for broke.

Surprisingly, practicing good anti-aging skincare means more than just battling fine lines and wrinkles. When your complexion, hair and overall appearance are healthy and vibrant, this can take years off of your face. Of course since most women worry about their face first and foremost, one easy way to turn back the hands of time and keep your money in your wallet is by adding milk into the equation. Yes, the milk that you will find in your refrigerator. Regular milk (not skim or low-fat) is naturally rich in lactic acid, vitamin A, protein, amino acids and fat, which has the ability to soothe irritated skin, tone down on redness from breakouts and also works to exfoliate. This will leave your complexion baby soft and squeaky clean. Simply pour cold milk into a small bowl and soak a washcloth in it. Next, place the washcloth on your face and leave it on for about 10 minutes, then rinse.

Now that you’ve got a great way to keep your complexion in tip top shape, you can focus on budget-friendly ways to care for your hair. In addition to the face, having healthy, luxurious tresses can also create a more youthful appearance. Of course, like anti-aging products, hair care products do not always come cheap. However, it is possible to cut down on your expenses by purchasing natural hair care items that serve as perfect substitutes for salon-quality hair care products. One such item is jojoba oil, which typically costs less than $15 - a steal for those with a tight budget. Jojoba oil is ideal for use on dry hair that is riddled with split ends or is constantly colored or exposed to chemicals. Once to twice a week apply a helping of jojoba oil to dry hair and place a thin, plastic shower cap over the hair. Next, wrap a hot towel over the shower cap and keep it covered for 30 minutes. Afterwards, rinse the jojoba oil out and then finish with a cold water rinse. The cold water seals the hair’s cuticle, which effectively traps the moisture in and prevents split ends. On a related note, when blow drying your tresses, switch to cold air after you are done heating a section of your hair. This will also keep your tresses from becoming fried and also locks in your hairstyle.
