How to Fight Age Spots

How to Fight Age Spots Age spots are flat brown spots that can appear anywhere on the body as aging occurs. Another common name for age spots are liver spots. They are mostly known to plague the face, neck, and hands. The spots themselves are a buildup of waste from free radical damage in the skin known as lipofuscin accumulation. They are signs that the cells are full of wastes that are slowly destroying them. Free radical intoxication has set in, and there are things you can do to help eradicate the core problem and helping you maintain skin that looks and feels youthful.

Excessive sun exposure which causes free radical development is the biggest cause of age spots, but other factors include poor diet, lack of exercise, improper liver function, and indigestion. Be mindful of these factors the next time you glance at your skin, and to help prevent further spotting, try incorporating some of these practices into your healthy lifestyle:

Stay Away from Problem Foods

Problem foods for your skin are caffeine, fried foods, red meat, sugar, processed foods, and saturated fat. Avoid these in excess if you want to avoid premature aging, and give them up completely for best results in obtaining healthy, youthful skin at any age.

No Smoking Please!

Tobacco is harmful for your digestion when ingested, which affects your skin, and the smoke wreaks absolute havoc. If you live or work with a second hand smoker, your skin is getting the negative affects of their habit as well. Do what you can to avoid tobacco.

Throw Away Your Cleansing Cream

Cleansing creams can be too harsh for your skin, or actually add dirt and residue in your pores instead of removing it. Hydrogenated hardened creams should be avoided at all costs. For a natural solution, cleanse the skin with pure extra virgin olive oil, and a warm wet washcloth. Rinse your skin with lemon juice and water.

Increase the Vitamin C in Your Life

Vitamin C with bioflavonoids is a powerful antioxidant and free radical scavenger. It helps with tissue repair, and has a variety of immune system boosting properties. Add it to your vitamin routine, and experience the difference.

Try Herbal Solutions

Burdock, red clover, and milk thistle all aid in cleansing the blood stream. They can be taken in tea form, or in tinctures. Gingko biloba is also a helpful herb and potent antioxidant that improves the circulation. Ginseng and licorice are also beneficial, but should only be used if you do not have high blood pressure.
