When you think of the now-widely used term “anti-aging”, what come to mind? More than likely skincare commercials with models of all ages flaunting seemingly flawless complexions, right? The skincare industry - namely the anti-aging industry - has enjoyed a multi-billion dollar profit for decades due to the huge demand for products that promise to restore a complexion that is youthful and free of fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging. But there is much more to this type of skincare than simply turning back the clock on your face.
It goes without saying that more than our faces age as we get older. Our bodies from head to doe, not to mention the state of our health on the inside, can all be affected by the natural aging process. That being said, what sense does it make to only practice anti-aging for your complexion? The best way to ensure that you age gracefully is by taking care of yourself from the time you are young. Of course many of us end up getting a late start, which is okay because it’s better late than never. But you must make sure your anti-aging efforts don’t end with adding anti-aging products to your skincare arsenal.
Think of getting older as a state of mind. If you embrace this natural stage of life but make every effort to take better care of yourself, there should be no reason why you can’t look great at any age. Many people, women especially, tend to be scared of each passing year and flock to the latest miracle products for anti-aging for their face. While the fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging may fade from your complexion, what about your hands, your body and your health overall? Take care of yourself from head to toe - that is true anti-aging. For example, make it a habit to use hand lotion equipped with sunscreen to keep the skin of your hands moisturized, supple and free of age spots. Speaking of sunscreen, it goes without saying that this sun care product should be in use on a daily basis - and not just on your face.
Give your body a fighting chance against Father Time by eating right and exercising. Water should be your beverage of choice on a daily basis and among your meals you should be squeezing in fresh fruits and vegetables. Take brisk walks around the neighborhood to get your whole body moving or grab a friend and do the buddy system for getting fit at the local gym. All these factors combined also prevent you from becoming prone to debilitating diseases such as cancer. Anti-aging doesn’t happen overnight - it is a process and the moves you make will determine the end results. So don’t just take care of your face, make sure you look fabulous at 30, 40, 50 and beyond by practicing total body anti-aging and skincare.
