Applying Your Skincare Products in the Right Order: Morning Routine

Applying Your Skincare Products in the Right Order: Morning RoutineIt seems that every day a new must-have beauty product hits the shelf – our shelf. We buy it. We love it, but how do we use it in conjunction with the cleansers and toners and creams we already have? The order in which we put on our skin care products matters almost as much as the products themselves – especially in the fight against aging. It’s also important to know which products you should be using and why. Here is a quick and simple guide to help build your morning beauty routine. It will help you asses your skin care needs and show you how to layer each product so it can work to its full potential. Your morning routine also creates the base for your color cosmetics.

Cleanser – Choose according to your skin type and use daily. For normal to dry skin choose a light cream cleanser that helps restore skin’s moisture balance as it removes impurities and dry skin. For normal to oily skin try lathering bar cleansers. For oily skin, use lathering, oil-free gel or cream cleansers that deep clean, won’t clog pores and help control oil with continued use. For normal and combination skin use cleansers that condition dry areas while freshening oily areas.

Toner – For dry skin choose a freshener that rehydrates without diminishing the skin’s natural oil. For normal, combination or oily skin, choose a freshener that helps remove and control oily buildup. For acne prone skin choose a toner with Salicylic Acid to help remove and prevent blackheads and acne.

Microdermabrasion Step One: Refine & Step Two: Restore – Most can be used morning and evening 2-3 times per week, leaving two days between uses. Follow all instructions. DO NOT follow with acne treatments. For anyone with fine lines, large pores or dry, flaky skin.

Acne Treatment – Apply a light coat directly to affected spot. Allow to dry completely before applying other products.

Even Complexion Product – Most are designed to reduce dark spots and skin discoloration to restore skin’s natural even tone.

Day Solutions – Most are designed to protect and renew skin by minimizing fine lines and discoloration and improving elasticity.

Daily Moisturizer – Choose according to your skin type and use daily. For normal to dry skin choose a lightweight, oil-free lotion that absorbs quickly. For dry skin choose a rich lotion that forms a barrier to decrease moisture evaporation and increase skin’s ability to retain moisture. For oily skin use a lightweight, oil-free lotion that moisturizes while it controls shine and oil breakthrough and leaves a matte finish to help makeup stay fresh.

Additional Moisturizer – Apply as needed to enhance hydration on dry patches or skin with eczema.

Oil Control – Lotion or mattifier that instantly absorbs and controls excess oil breakthrough.

Soothing Eye Treatment – To refresh and moisturize tired eyes.

Firming /Age-Fighting Eye Treatment – Brightens, firms, reduces lines and wrinkles.

Primers – Extend color cosmetic wear and decreases creasing and feathering.
