Chamomile Beauty

Chamomile BeautyChamomile has been regarded for ages as an herb that promotes calm and relaxation, but it can do so much more for your hair, skin and personal well-being as part of a regular beauty regimen. Chamomile has a variety of medical properties, but is also known for helping achieve emotional balance and reduced stress. It is antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic and antiallergenic; properties that make chamomile an obvious choice for reducing redness, irritation and inflammation of the skin. The herb is often chosen for use on babies because of its mild nature and soothing effect. Chamomile is often not recommended for use within the first three months of pregnancy.

Chamomile Eye Repair

A used chamomile tea bag can be utilized as a soothing and cooling treatment for red, puffy and irritated eyes. They are also said to be helpful in reducing dark circles under the eyes caused by exhaustion. Cool the tea bags, and place them over closed eyes for relief.

Chamomile Bath Bag

A relaxing chamomile bath to relax the senses and help soften, cleanse and moisturize the skin is easy to obtain. Simply fill a pouch of porous cloth (like cotton, muslin or linen) with fresh or dried chamomile flowers. Affix the pouch to the faucet so that the water runs through the pouch and over the flowers as it fills the tub.

Blonde Hair Conditioner

A simple conditioner can be made for blonde hair from extra virgin olive oil and dried chamomile flowers. Crush ¼ to ½ cup of the flowers in the olive oil and let the flowers steep in the oil for three weeks in a glass jar with a tight lid. The jar should be stored in a warm place where it can be shaken at least once a day. After three weeks, strain the flowers out of the oil and store it in a dark glass bottle.

Chamomile Body Massage Oil

Massage is an important part of any health and beauty regimen because it helps maintain firmness in the skin and reduces cellulite while increasing circulation and revitalizing skin cells. For a simple oil, use three ounces of almond oil, one ounce of jojoba oil and one ounce of hazelnut oil. Use only cold-pressed oils, and add to them 1/6 ounce of chamomile essential oil. Shake the mixture well in a dark bottle, and get a massage or give yourself a massage weekly.
