Eye creams and serums are not always the most affordable items when it comes to anti-aging products. However, because the eye area is often the first place to become the target of fine lines and wrinkles, many women do not think twice before making such a purchase. Over time the cost of top of the line anti-aging eye products can add up to a small fortune. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative that is just as effective, you may be interested in the following DIY home recipes.
The great thing about skincare and anti-aging recipes you can do at home is not only the fact that it is convenient, but more affordable and involves the use of natural ingredients. When it comes to eye creams, you’ll find that the natural methods are often the best at combating the signs of aging around the eye area.
Perhaps the easiest recipe you can try at home in order to decrease or eliminate the signs of fine lines and wrinkles from your eye area are by using an herbal tea bag. Chances are you have a few tea bags stowed away in your kitchen cupboard. Because this type of tea bag contains natural herbs, these ingredients (including antioxidants) will start working right away to treat tired, swollen or puffy eyes. Simply heat up a pot of boiling water and immerse the herbal tea bag (or you can heat up a mug of hot water to put the tea bag in). Afterwards, remove the herbal tea bag and allow it to cool for five minutes before wringing out excess water. Place one herbal tea bag on each eyelid and let it sit there for between 10-15 minutes. It is best to find a nice, comfortable area of your home to lie down and let the herbal tea bag do its magic. When you are done, remove the tea bags and discard them. Make sure to gently rinse your eye area, pat dry and add your favorite moisturizer.
As most of us know, natural ingredients have properties that have the ability to tackle skincare problems of all kinds - even those related to anti-aging. If you are a fan of apples and potatoes, then you’ll be happy to know that these two can be combined to make a potent DIY eye cream. All you’ll need is a cool, damp cloth, one grated, medium sized potato, 3-4 tablespoons of unsweetened applesauce and a small plastic bowl. In your small plastic bowl mix your potato with applesauce. Place a plastic cover and put the mixture in your refrigerator for five minutes. When it is chilled, remove and apply the mixture to your eye area but avoid the eyelids. Find a chair or couch to lie down on and then place the damp cloth over your eyes and take a quick cat nap for 10-15 minutes. Afterwards, wash the potato and applesauce mixture off and go about your day. It is best to remake the mixture each time you plan on using this homemade eye cream recipe in order to preserve the freshness of the ingredients.
