Makeup Removers for Your Skin Type

Makeup Removers for Your Skin TypeIf you’re good about removing your makeup each night before going to bed, then that’s great - you’re doing one of the most important skincare practices to maintain healthy and glowing skin. However, you should make sure that you’re using the right type of makeup remover for your skin type. You’ll want a product that not only excels at removing makeup and dirt, but will also pamper your complexion.

If you are currently using regular soap and water to remove your makeup, stop this habit immediately. Bar soap should never be used on the face because it only serves to strip your complexion of its natural oils. Additionally, soap and water alone is not enough to properly cleanse the face and remove all traces of makeup from the pores. It is a must that if you wear makeup you should have a good quality makeup remover. By choosing the right kind of makeup remover you can not only cleanse your skin of your cosmetic products, you can also preserve the health of your complexion in the long run. Some women use facial cleanser to take off their makeup but this type of skincare product is not designed to remove cosmetics. Facial cleanser is meant to remove surface oils, dirt, and other debris from the skin that gathers naturally during the day, not layers of foundation, lipstick, eye shadow, and mascara.

Makeup removers are made specifically for breaking down makeup and should be chosen with care. The first step is to identify your skin type (normal, combination, dry, sensitive, oily, acne prone) and start your search for a makeup remover accordingly. It is important to choose a makeup remover that doesn’t contain alcohol, which is very harsh and damaging to the skin. Some makeup removers come in gel form or as emulsions, which are milky liquid makeup removers. There are even makeup removers that are formulated to remove waterproof cosmetics. Be sure to choose a product that has natural vitamins and extracts in it, which will keep your complexion soft and smooth as well as clean. Don’t let price dictate what your purchase, either. The most expensive products aren’t always better, but at the same time be wary of cheaply made products, which may contain harsh or substitute ingredients that may not be good for your skin.

There are various types of natural makeup removers that can be purchased at any store or found in your own home. Certain oils are ideal for removing makeup, such as mineral oil, olive oil, baby oil, and almond oil. Dabbing a cotton ball in any of these oils and applying them to the face, especially the eye area will break down the layers of makeup. Be sure to rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry. You can also take a cotton ball and dip it in raw milk to remove foundation.
