Maximum Results with Minimal Effort

4 Steps to Getting the Most Out Of Your Existing Skincare Routine

Maximum Results with Minimal EffortIf you were told that you could look better, feel better and have younger looking skin without (completely) changing a thing, would you believe it? If you said no, get ready to be amazed. Try these simple adjustments to your existing daily routine to improve the appearance of your skin and hair and leave yourself feeling great.

Start where most of our days begin, in the shower. Here is where you can check-off two improvements. Start with the toughest skin on your body – your heels. Tough to keep supple and smooth, especially in the barefoot summer months, an extra scrub on skin that’s been softened in a hot shower will improve the look and feel of your feet. All it takes is the washcloth or body brush you’re already using. Rub vigorously along heels, toes and along both sides to exfoliate rough skin. This simple step will prolong pedicures and revive tired, over-worked feet. Try this on elbows and knees too. And while you’re steaming clean, switch to a cold blast for shinier, smoother hair. Wash, rinse and condition as usual, but leave a small amount of conditioner on your hair from scalp to ends. Rinse your hair completely under cold water. This improves your hair’s shine and leaves it more manageable and with fewer tangles. If standing anywhere near cold water isn’t your thing, let cold water run from the faucet instead of the shower head and rinse from a safe, warm distance on the outside of the tub.

The third simple adjustment to your daily routine will leave you with smoother skin on your face and neck. Cleansing and moisturizing is a must-do, but there is room for improvement. Try using your unscented, emollient moisturizer as an eye make-up remover. It’s gentler and adds necessary moisture to the sensitive eye area. After cleansing your face and neck, rinse with warm to cool water and pat dry but leave a trace of water on your skin. By the time you put the towel back on the rack and open your moisturizer the water will have soaked into the skin and you will have left no time for drying. Don’t forget the entire chin line, behind your ears and your neck down to your collar bones.

The last boost to your routine is an all-over moisture surge. Use the same steps on your body after the shower as you did on your face, pat dry leaving a trace of water all over your skin. Improve the effectiveness of your moisturizer by using an extra emollient cream with cocoa or shea butter, especially on your elbows, knees and feet. Be sure to include your hands, paying special attention to your cuticles.
