Very Dry and Dry Skin
·
Look for continuous hydrating formulas and avoid anything oil-free (which can look chalky on skin).
·
For daytime, choose an illuminating formula to add the illusion of more moisture.
Optimal (
·
Choose a hydrating but light formula to avoid over-moisturizing or creating a chalky complexion.
Easily Irritated (Sensitive)
·
Look for labels such as “allergy tested”, “dermatologist tested” and “fragrance-free” (although not 100% fragrance free, these contain less than 2% of added fragrances to mask any slight odors from certain ingredients. This phrase translates to ‘fewer fragrances’).
Combination, Oily and Very Oily Skin
·
Choose a formula labeled oil-free and non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores and cause comedones, small whiteheads).
·
Look for the term “smartsponge” which helps continuously absorb excess oil.
·
Look for “mattifying”.
With all daytime moisturizers, choose one with a SPF of 15 or higher, or, if the moisturizer does not contain one, use a separate SPF formula over moisturizer. For nighttime hydration, choose an antioxidant rich formula for all skin types. Choose a rich hydration formula for very dry and dry skin, a regular texture for optimal skin, and a light texture or serum for combination, oily or very oily skin.
