The Naturopathic Theory and How It Applies To Skin Health

The Naturopathic Theory and How It Applies To Skin HealthWe`ve all probably heard about the naturopathic theory but may not be familiar with all it entails or it`s application in the field of skin care and beauty. Naturopathy claims a place in not only our health care, but our skin care and cosmetic industry as well. Although naturopathy and it`s practices have never been known to cause harm or have adverse effects on our health our care of our skin, some dismiss it`s methods as complete nonsense and quackery. We`ll let you decide, but we`ll also point out where naturopathy has gained followers in the beauty industry.

The Beginnings of Naturopathy

Naturopathy is traced to the 1800`s with the establishment of the Water-Cure Institute in New York City by Sebastian Kneipp, after believing one associate to have cured his tuberculosis through bathing in the Danube river. The center focused on natural and herbal remedies and gave birth to the naturopathic theory. Today, you`ll find plenty of naturopathic therapists if you are interested in these treatments for skin care health and beauty treatments.

The Basics of Naturopathy

Naturopathy basically holds the belief that the body has the power and potential to heal itself, and that all processes of our bodies - including any sickness or illness such as skin allergies - are an attempt of the skin to bring healing to itself. This is where naturopathy gets many opposing views - followers of naturopathy will forego seeing family physicians or dermatologists for treatment of a skin-care problem and neglect the proper medical care and attention. It is still up for debate whether the skin’s "vital force" is more effective than healing than the treatment of a doctor or dermatologist.

Naturopathy for Skin Health

The naturopathic view of skin health will seek to begin from the inside out, whereas most traditional skin care routines focus on promoting health and beauty from the outside in. In naturopathy, one would seek beauty and skin health through diet, minerals, massage, exercise, fasting, natural foods, and other natural-centered remedies that focus on detoxification. The naturopathic theory of skin care holds that skin care problems, such as acne and allergies, are an expression of the imbalance of skin and are it`s attempts to heal itself.

What Treatments Are Available

As we said, we`ll leave it to you to experiment with naturopathy and decide if it is effective in your skin care routine, but here`s just a few of the treatments you`ll come across if you decide to pursue naturopathy:

Porotherapy: Treatment applied through the pores of the skin and nerves.

Tropo-therapy: Treats through a combination of over thirty natural foods.

Aeropathy: Treatment includes baking the patient in a hot oven.

Chromotherapy: Healing with colored lights.
