Small Changes, Big Results: Simple Skincare Solutions

Small Changes, Big Results: Simple Skincare Solutions“It’s the little things that count the most.” That sentiment applies to just about everything under the sun – including skincare. It’s the little things, like small changes to your daily routine that can slow down the wrinkles and aging that seem to show up over night. Here are five small changes that can yield big results.

1. The problem: Sagging, tired skin around your eyes

The simple solution: Press each of your four fingertips against your thumb. You will notice that your ring finger is the weakest. Consider this a strength in your fight against eye wrinkles. When applying eye cream, concealer or moisturizer around your eyes, use your ring finger. And always pat, don’t rub. This is old news, you may say. True, but do you do it? It’s been said and said again because it’s so important to realize the damage you do long term when you apply pressure to or stretch the skin around your eyes. This small change will prolong the appearance of plump, smooth eyes.

2. The problem: Wrinkles

The solution: Make your sleep work for you by getting into the habit of sleeping on your back. Skincare experts say that wrinkles form as a result of repetitive movement. Creases in your skin can from because they are pressed again the pillow every night. Sleeping on your back keeps the skin on your face and chest taught and unstressed. This small change could minimize wrinkling and creasing on your face, neck and chest.

3. The problem: Does my neck make me look old?

The solution: The skin on our neck is the thinnest skin on our bodies, and it shows our age. Think about it, you’ve seen someone with great skin on their face, but their neck looks weathered. To care for this delicate area, use the ring finger as your guide for how much pressure to apply when moisturizing. And be sure to moisturize. Consider using the same anti-aging cream you love for your face. Be sure to apply generously and apply to the back of your hands as well – hands are another tell-tale spot for aging. This change to your daily routine could produce results that fool even you about your age.

4. The problem: Dry skin

The solution: Get the most from your shower by air drying if time permits or, if not, pat dry. Apply your moisturizer while your skin is still damp. This minor change will not only reduce the amount of product you use but you’ll seal in moisture and hydrate your skin. The results are big. Hydrated skin looks and feels younger, more vibrant. Caring for your skin’s moisture balance creates a smooth, even palate for cosmetics, and maintains the firm, soft skin you want on every inch of your body.

5. The problem: Blocking the sun

The solution: While we love to have a tan, a healthy tan is required for long lasting skin care. The big news is to protect your skin every day. Our hands and face are exposed to the sun daily. Make applying sun block to your face, hands and the back of your neck part of your daily routine. Protection from harmful UV rays will make all your skincare efforts go a much longer way.
