Oxygen Facials. What They`re All About

Oxygen Facials. What They`re All AboutThe most talked about beauty trend in Hollywood is the oxygen facial. Celebrities like, Madonna are raving about firmer skin with lasting results thanks to this new facial technique. With all the hype about this latest beauty trend, we wanted to know more, and whether it’s really worth your time and hard earned money.

What They Do

Oxygen facials are designed to improve the appearance of your skin by renewing skin cells and fighting the bacteria that causes acne. As a result, your skin looks and feels firmer for a couple of days. The oxygen facial is excellent for those who want to reduce dry and irritated skin or diminish little imperfections that are noticeable in front of a camera. Oxygen facials may also help reduce fine lines as well as protect skin from sun damage and everyday stress.

How it Works

Clients can experience an oxygen facial for around $500 a treatment. Once he or she is ready to begin,

a protein solution is poured into the machine and the client is then treated to a pure oxygen mist that is forced into the top layer of the skin. Afterwards, a collagen mask is place over the face to allow the skin to absorb the oxygen even more. After the procedure, clients are left with smoother skin that is healthy and renewed. To maintain that dewy face look, clients must follow up with six more treatments on a weekly basis and then a monthly treatment indefinitely.

Before You Decide

Unfortunately, even with all of the Hollywood praise, there is no scientific evidence that oxygen facials are all that effective. As a matter of fact many dermatologists are very skeptical of this so-called beauty trend and are calling it nonsense. So, what about the noticeable results that the oxygen facial does leave? Some dermatologists believe it’s simply a mild inflammation cause by the blasts of pressurized air that can be achieved just as equally by sleeping less. For others, the hope is that the oxygen used on their clients will create a pressure bubble that will push vitamins and nutrients into the skin. Still, an astonishing 20,000 Americans flocked to dermatologists and spas last year to receive an oxygen facial.

Other Options

If you’re not willing to pay $500 for an oxygen facial, you can always try an over the counter product that claims to give you similar results. The manufacturer’s product insists that after cleansing and moisturizing the face with their product, skin cells are shown to absorb 20% more oxygen, which in return will leave you with smoother skin.

If you decide that an oxygen facial may be right for you, be sure you do your research when looking for a spa or dermatologist for the procedure. After all, your skin is a delicate matter!
