The ABCs of Antioxidant Facial Treatments

The ABCs of Antioxidant Need a brightening boost? The next time you visit your favorite spa, ask your esthetician to boost your facial with antioxidants. Many spas and skincare specialists now offer highly concentrated antioxidant facials as standalone treatments or add-ons. City gals: these treatments were designed with you in mind. These treatments target skin damaged by the sun and environmental pollutants. They help undo the ravages of stress, poor air quality, lack of sleep and (ahem) too much partying. While actual treatments vary according to the establishment, here are some of our favorites:

Vitamin C Treatment

This treatment is usually an ala carte option. It uses ultra-potent Vitamin C serums and masks to rejuvenate and resuscitate environmentally damaged skin. This potent Vitamin C treatment is especially beneficial for smokers, making dull skin look smoother, firmer and radiant. It also helps reduce brown spots and melasma.

Antioxidant Berry Treatment

Blueberries brighten and cranberry enzymes lightly exfoliate. This quick and easy treatment makes the skin incredibly smooth and soft. An added bonus—there’s virtually no irritation! Perfect just before a hot date or any major event.

Enzyme Antioxidant Mask

As part of a traditional facial, an enzyme mask with vitamins A, C, E and green tea is applied to boost circulation and helps to firm sagging skin.

Pumpkin Peel

This potent peel is fabulously anti-aging and smells good enough to eat! Not only does it lightly exfoliate the skin, it stimulates collagen for improved elasticity and tone. A great option for mature skin types that can`t tolerate irritating microdermabrasion or AHA peels.

Alpha Lipoic Refining Treatment

A healing antioxidant, Alpha Lipoic Acid, improves skin tone and texture, lessens the look of large pores and makes the skin glow. The Alpha Lipoic Acid Refining Treatment can be used alone or as an add-on to another treatment.

Dark Chocolate Mask

Did you know that creamy and sinful cocoa is also a nourishing skin treatment? The Organic Dark Chocolate Mask treatment is loaded with iron, magnesium, vitamins, and antioxidants. Combined, these ingredients thoroughly cleanse the skin skin, leaving it soft and sweet.

Green Tea Treatment

Popular in Japan, the green tea skin treatment improves the skin`s texture, lifts sagging skin, and calms irritation and inflammation. This treatment uses compresses soaked in green tea and calendula oil are helps soothe and calm broken capillaries and sunburned skin. This relaxing-yet-revitalizing antioxidant treatment is perfect for sensitive and reactive skin. It’s even gentle enough for those suffering from Rosacea and acne.
