What is an Oxygen Facial?

What is an Oxygen Facial?Madonnaís done it. Jennifer and Nicole have had more than one. Are you onboard the oxygen beauty bandwagon? Oxygen facials became all the rage when Madonna touted its praises on her own website in February of last year. Since then, oxygen facials have become a hot commodity at many spas, with services costing as much as $500. Now you can have a much more economical and convenient approach to oxygenated beauty with the arrival of home facial systems and plenty of beauty products that include the magical ingredient, O2. If you have never heard the praises sung for the benefits of oxygen to your skin, read on for reasons why you might want to give these products a try.

The Magic of Oxygen

So why does oxygen work to make our skin smoother and softer? The theory behind oxygenated beauty is that we all need oxygen for survival. Oxygen is what revives and replenishes the cells in our body. However, due to the pollutants in our environment today, our oxygen content has been greatly reduced. It is also true that as we age, oxygen does not reach our skin cells as efficiently, which is what leads to the aging process. The result can be thinner skin and the appearance of wrinkles and age spots. An oxygen facial will replenish the amount of oxygen that the skin receives, leaving it hydrated, plumper and younger looking.

Does it work? That depends on who you talk to. For some, the results of the facial are immediate and hard to miss, which is what keeps many celebrities coming back for more. And more. It seems that the results of the oxygen facial are temporary Ė much like the results of other types of facials. Still, if you are getting ready for a red-carpet event, an appointment at your local spa for an oxygen facial might be a good idea. The price has come down somewhat since the concept was first introduced, and now you can find some treatments for about the same price as other types of facials.

DIY

For those who canít or wonít shell out the big bucks for the spa pampering, you can now find home systems for DIY oxygen facials. Some will come with the tool necessary to pump oxygen directly onto your skin, and many will include beauty products like cleansers to work in tandem with the system. These systems advertise that they can clear up blemishes, reduce fine lines and soothe puffy eyes.

And to capitalize on the oxygen craze even further, you can now find plenty of the big beauty names offering skin care products with oxygen as an ingredient. Some of these are used just like other skin care regimens, with cleansers and moisturizers for daytime wear, and another cream for overnight. Oxygen is crucial for survival. It now appears to be a critical component in beauty as well. Try if for yourself, and see if the results speak for themselves.
